The "Clink-Boom" moment occurred when Brenda consented to marry Jax while Sonny left town to protect Lily, not knowing that she was pregnant. Brenda and Sonny briefly got back together when Lily passed away, but things eventually drove them apart once more.

After being assumed dead in an automobile accident, Brenda's unannounced return to Port Charles resulted in a moving meeting with Sonny outside of a church. Brenda left town again, this time due to chaos and competition from Jax, even after they reconciled.

After Brenda returned to Port Charles from her supposed son's birthplace of Europe, Sonny and Jax fought for her attentions. Sonny and Brenda were married in 2011 as a result of their combined efforts to locate Brenda's son and shield her from the Balkan.

After a brief marriage to Sonny, Brenda fled Port Charles once more because she needed a secure home to raise her kid. Three years later, during Brenda's brief comeback, the couple realised they were better off as friends.
