The last season of Top Boy released almost six years ago. Since then, fans are demanding for the next season. Well, the wait is almost over as Top Boy season 3 is all set to release soon. It is nearly two years since Netflix announced that it would revive the crime drama series starring rapper-actor Ashley Walters.
The revival of the show was made possible by famous Canadian rapper Drake, who is a massive fan of the show. Drake partnered with Netflix to bring back the fan-favorite UK cult series. Netflix will release season 3 of Top boy this year after acquiring the series from Channel 4.
Top Boy is a British television crime drama series. Written and created by Ronan Bennett and Directed by Yann Demange and Jonathan Van Tullekan. Season one of the series follows the story of two local drug dealers Dushane and Sully, and how the tough decisions they are forced to take for the business. The series also revolves around the messy life of Ra’Nell as he finds ways of living in the crime-filled with his mentally unstable mother.
Season two revolves around the same characters as well. However, the storyline changes as Dushane and Sully become rivals. Meanwhile, Ra’Nell’s mother tries to rebuild her life. Series two also introduces a new character, Jason. 
Top Boy Season 3: Cast Updates
Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson will reprise their roles as Dushane and Sully. Major cast update includes Brotherhood actor Michael Wards as Jamie.
New Series will also highlight artists David Omoregie aka the rapper Dave as Modie, and Simbiatu Ajikawo (Little Simz) as Shelly.
Wakandan princess Letitia Wright’s return is still in doubts as there is no official confirmation yet.
Top Boy Season 3: What to expect?
Top Boy season 3 will focus on a new story in and around the summerhouse estate. The new season will probably pick up from Dushane’s return from exile to his London home to reclaim his throne in the business. After all the conflicts and rivalry Dushane teams up with his old buddy and sometime rival Sully (Kane Robinson) following his return from the prison.
Dushane and Sully are awaited by both young, hungry and stony gang leader Jamie. His big and possibly cruel ambitions could trouble Dushane and Sully.
Top Boy Season 3: Ashley Walters Was The Only One Concerned?
Reportedly, Ashley Walter was the only person pushing his production company to bring back Top Boy for another season. Ashley was on to it even before Drake’s involvement.
“We were starting to do the storylines for season three, that’s when Channel 4 dropped the commission on it, so it was a shock to everyone”, the actor revealed.
The actor also said that he was the only one interested; everyone else wanted to leave it alone at that point. He was the only one calling every week in order to bring back Top Boy, but initially, it was Drake’s love towards the show that made the return possible.

The wait is finally over as Top Boy season 3 is all set to premiere worldwide on September 13, exclusively on Netflix. Ashley Walters himself confirmed on his Twitter handle as well, captioning his announcement: “#Alwayswinning.”
