When The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 5 airs this week, a number of things will be changed. Ever since the fourth season started, things have relatively improved for June. Other than the trip she had to take to the prison and the regular torture sessions with Aunt Lydia, the show has avoided taking June back to Gilead. The fourth episode ended with both June and Janine entering the urban warfare of Chicago. It is nothing like the women had imagined.
While we are saying that June and Janine are now in a better place, the real question is, are they? They are dealing with Stevan, who knows that these women were in a difficult position when they met him. So, he decides to exploit them. Would June and Janine be able to change that situation for their own good? The spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 5 suggest that when the episode comes back, it wouldn’t be a pretty sight.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 5: Promo Reveals Details
June had a semi-plan when they decided to move towards Chicago. She had thought that they would find other rebels who they could join up with and also find a place as shelter to rest. However, now that they have reached there, they found out that everything is different. These rebels are starving, paranoid, and unwelcoming. The trailer for the upcoming episode is out, and it looks like things are about to change.
The promo for the upcoming episode, The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 5- titled- “Chicago” sees June as she follows a rebel armed with a gun. She asks what kind of resistance they were to which he replies that they are the one that survives. June then follows other members of the resistance through the other part of the town that looks like it’s under attack. In the promo, there is a point where June is looking at a table filled with guns. Could that be a hint that she will now start using violence as her defense?
The promo also sees a small glimpse of Nick, and it looks like he is continuing his work as a plainclothes operative of the eyes. Then, viewers can see Aunt Lydia, who seems to be giving a speech to a new batch of handmaids as she tells them how precious they are. Back with June and Janine, viewers get to see Janine, who seems really terrified. But we don’t know what is scaring her until the camera then switches to June. She then turns around and sees a few helicopters in the sky, and both of them run away as the explosives go off behind them. Will the two of them be able to survive there?
What More Could Happen On The Show?
As for what more would happen next, we can expect that we will get to see more of Serena’s situation in the upcoming episode. In the fourth episode, Rita went to see Fred, where she told him about Serena’s pregnancy. Now, we can assume that storyline will play out in the next episode or so. However, at this moment, we can just speculate because we don’t know if they would go for a trial, or would they come back to Gilead in a different capacity? These are the questions only time will tell.
As for June, since Nick is also in Chicago, we can’t help but wonder if she would go to find him? Would she cross the enemy lines in doing so? It is very much possible. It is possible that Janine might stay back with this group of rebels, and June might go ahead and find ways. At this point, the story can literally go anywhere. So, we will have to wait to see what happens next.
