The production collectively with the broadcasting network seemed to be in no position to film the Shadowhunters Season 4. Instead, they just put up a two-hour finale on the plate to tie the loose ends. Whenever we think of watching a TV series instead of a movie, we do it because of the depth that a TV series nurtures in the characters and the plot throughout the show. And no matter how the series begins, if it does not end as expected, repercussions are bound to happen. Same was the case with the cancellation of Shadowhunters Season 4.
The creators were supposed to come up with Season 4 to bring the details in the picture. Initially, the producers decided to create the third season with 20 episodes. But then the idea of a two hour finale resulted in the extension to 22 episodes. This extension made those two back to back finale episodes highly compressed and made the situation in a hurry. And it led to many events happening haphazardly.

Shadowhunters Season 4: What Events Were On The Cards?
If the show had approval for its fourth season, the show runner could have appropriately explained a lot of events resulting in leaving no stone unturned. Like there were chances that Magnus would propose to Alec, which did not occur. One of the producers, Slavkin too mentioned that they could have depicted the Malec wedding in an elaborated manner. He said: “We would’ve planned the wedding”. “That would’ve taken time. The wedding would not have happened the same day”. Also, the creator could have focused in detail on Seelie Queen’s constant relationship with Jonathon for a prolonged period.
If by any chance, there comes Shadowhunters Season 4, the fans would love to see what happened with Izzy and Simon after their kiss in the finale. The new season might dig up their relationship. Similarly, Helen and Aline did talk about their marriage, but the show did not surface further results. That could be coming if there is a Shadowhunters comeback.
Chances Of The Revival Of The Series
If we talk about the show’s producer Slavkin, he has not yet completely ruled out the possibility of revival, but he was more inclined towards a TV movie continuation than a full-fledged season. Many of the cast hold similar opinions about returning for Season 4 willingly if it happens. Kimberly-Sue Murray, the actress who played Seelie Queen, was too excited for this chance. She said: “There’s a part of me that’s like, ‘Please save us!’, because I want to see where this goes or a spin-off. We all want more of this, of course.”
When it comes to fans’ excitement, they have tried everything in their control to bring back the show on TV. From petitions on change.org (180,000 signatures) to crowdfunding for billboards and advertisements to trending the hashtag #Saveshadowhunters, they used all the cards in their deck to get their favorite show to broadcast another season. But it all depends on what the creators need to have to shoot an extended revival. If the producers could come up with a strong continuing story line, then fans may experience this TV Drama again.
Shadowhunters Season 4: A Ray Of Light In The Darkness
As the series finale received criticism for condensing almost the whole season in a two-hour finale, it was not all grim in the ending. The best part, in the end, was all about the confrontation between Jace and Clary. Fans must have thought that Clary would not remember her time in Shadow World. But as she grows up as a successful artist, she recognizes Jace when she sees him. It was an overwhelming experience for all the viewers, watching Clary and Jace ending up together after all the sacrifices she made.
