BBC’s historical period drama finally came to an end, and fans are still struggling to believe it. Despite watching the series finale, it’s hard not to question if there are any hopes for Poldark Season 6. Luckily, there have been a few hints around that corner that point towards the show’s return. Hence, here’s everything to know about the possibilities of a sixth installment.
Starring Aiden Turner in the lead, the series is based on the novels of the same by Winston Graham. The story of the show follows Capt. Ross Vennor Poldark as he returns home years after serving in the army. Upon returning, he finds out that his world had shattered in his absence. Further on, as the plot develops, he comes across several life-changing twists and turns.
With its debut back in 2015, the show managed to impress millions of BBC viewers. The popularity of the series grew over the years of its development. It successfully ran for five installments in total. Moreover, as per the initial plan, the period drama wrapped up with the fifth season. However, it left the fans unsatisfied. Hence, many of them still hope for its return with Poldark Season 6.
Is The Series Returning For Poldark Season 6?
The series finale saw Ross boarding a ship for France as his love-interest Demelza glared at him. Although he promised to be back for her hinting towards the chance of another installment. Ross’ final statement is confusing and misguiding. However, it majorly suggests that there’s still room for more story ahead in the future.
Sadly, Ross gives us wrong hopes as Poldark Season 6 is officially canceled. As per Metro, BBC always has a five-season plan and have ended the show with Season 5. On the other hand, Aiden Turner also confirms that we’ve already heard the last from his character in the previous season.
On the sets of the fifth installment, the lead actor revealed that there was a sense of completion and relief that they’d made this far. He added that hitting the five-season mark was their main goal and they are proud to achieve it.
There Series Is Yet To Complete The Books
The BBC show is based on Winston Graham’s series of twelve novels with the same name. The previous five seasons managed to complete the story upto halfway the eighth one. Hence, the TV network is yet to televise the rest five books. This leaves room for the makers to continue the story in the future.
The producer of the series has previously accepted that they still have five books to possibly do in the future. However, he adds that if they do a sixth season, it may not be coming out for a few years. On the other hand, he mentions that Poldark Season 6 will primarily focus on Ross and Demelza.
Can Fans Bring The Series Back?
Lately, fans have proudly shown their power by saving a couple of popular canceled shows. They were either canceled for no reason or were removed for having low viewership. To save their favorite and better-deserving programs, followers have used social media campaigns ad petitions. Hence, as a result, such series were either picked up another streaming giant or continued by the original broadcaster. Moreover, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Designated Survivor, and Lucifer are one of the biggest examples.
A large number of fans have been requesting the network for the revival of Poldark Season 6. It sure isn’t easy to convince the showrunners at all. However, we can only hope for the BBC to give the period drama another shot on television.
