Modern Family Season 12 is currently not in the cards. The creators announced the latest season to be the final season of this series. Still, the fans are crying out to see more of this show. The fans desperately want this show to come back on the screen just like Will & Grace managed to do back in the time. This show got an amazing response from the fans and the critics. The debut season of this show bagged the primetime Emmy Award for outstanding comedy series. In this article, the viewers will read about everything we know so far regarding the twelfth installment of this show.
Modern Family is an American mockumentary family sitcom. Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan created this show for ABC. This show first made its debut on 23 September 2009 and ran magnificently for 11 years. The last episode of this series aired on 8 April 2020. Throughout the eleven years, the show has been nominated for a humongous number of awards and became successful in winning many of them. It introduced the world to the Pritchett-Dunphy family and followed the ups and downs of their everyday lives throughout eleven seasons.
Is This Really The End Of The Modern Family?
The answer is most probably Yes. The chances of this show coming back are very low. The creators were planning the finale of this show for a quite long time. In February 2019, ABC announced that the eleventh season would conclude the storyline of this sitcom once and for all. The initial plans were to complete the series with its tenth season. However, the creators decided to give the series one final run as the eleventh season. Levitan’s perseverance on the show not lingering past its welcome means that there won’t be any more episodes after this.
Modern Family Season 12: Why It Won’t Happen?
There are numerous reasons behind the end of one of the best sitcoms ever made. First of all, is that the contracts of all the cast members were expired by the end of the tenth season. Keeping all the cast around for one more season already costs a lot of money to the producers. Now if they want to make Modern Family Season 12, then they have to pay the cast members even more money than the latest season.
One more significant reason is that the ratings of this show dropped continuously. Initial seasons of this series topped all the rating charts as well as developed a lot of loyal fan following. However, as the show proceeds, it started to lose its essence. The creators noticed a steady decline in the ratings in the past years. The eleventh season premiere drew less than half of the viewership drew by the eighth season premiere. This major downfall in ratings is a clear indication for the creators to wrap the show.
Reaction Of The Cast!!
The series star Jesse Ferguson told that he is glad that the show ended before the pandemic. He said, “I’m so thankful that we were able to complete Modern Family the way we wanted to before all of this appeared. I would’ve been desolated if we wouldn’t have been able to close the show and it just ended sort of ambiguously.”
The show actress Sofia Vergara, who played Gloria, told that she doesn’t want this show to end. She said, “It was the ideal job and if I could do it all again I would, and I wouldn’t modify anything. Everything was perfect – the scripts, the cast, and the writers. We became a family, so it’s difficult to say goodbye. We are really going to miss each other. It’s not about the work. It’s the people.”
