The debut season of Good Omens wrapped up with mild surprises for the fans. However, just after watching the show on Amazon Prime, the audience started asking about Good Omens Season 2. Amazon Studios has not renewed the show yet. However, the speculations are flaring that the show-runners might renew the show for another run.
Good Omens is based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel. The series also added a postscript to the original story which saw the angel Aziraphale (played by Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (played by David Tennant) put on trial by their respective employers in Heaven and Hell.
The miniseries, a collaboration of Amazon Studios and BBC Studios, debuted on May 31, 2019, on Amazon Video and BBC Two. The show received positive reviews from the audience and the critics. The fans loved the storyline of angels and demons fighting.
The show is based on the novel written by Pratchett and Gaiman, which follows an angel and a demon as they try to avert Armageddon on Earth. The show in itself tells a relatively contained story. That is because the show concluded with its six-episode run and did not set up anything for a future series.
What Could Possibly Happen In Good Omens Season 2?
The finale of the debut season left a few open links for the second season. In the sixth episode, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the angel Aziraphale and his demon BFF Crowley successfully prevented the end of the world. However, their final conversation hinted towards a more significant apocalypse to come. That was, the inevitable war between angels and demons fighting against humanity.
Therefore, if the show gets renewed for the next run, it could possibly include both sides teaming up against all of humanity. That will be the actual Armageddon.
Chances For The Renewal Of Good Omens Season 2
Though there hasn’t any story left in the novel for the second series, it seems that the authors have quite some to share. The showrunner and writer Gaiman talked about the possibility with RadioTimes on the set of the TV adaptation in 2017. According to him, they (Gaiman and Pratchett) have come up with the plot. He also added that if people love this enough, and if the time and the will is there, they could absolutely go back and do a lot more.
However, Gaiman also gave an utterly contradictory statement to the above. He made it crystal clear that he has approached this series as a standalone drama. And he also added that at this moment, any thoughts of a follow-up are just: thoughts.
The writers even are not entirely sure to have another season of Good Omens. However, the audience is keeping there hopes high to have Good Omens Season 2. Stay tuned for more updates.
