Empire Season 6 got a renewal by FOX ahead of the season five finale which aired on May 8, 2019. Many fans were worried that the long-running show might get canceled. Fortunately, FOX saved the show for another installment. On April 30, 2019, FOX renewed the show for a sixth and final season.
Empire is an American musical drama series. It revolves around a fictional hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment. The story follows the drama between the members of the founder’s family, as they fight for control of it. The series creators are Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.
The pilot of the show was a massive success. The series debuted on January 7, 2015, pulling approximately 10 million viewers. Seventeen million viewers watched the first season finale.
Empire Season 6: Cast Updates
The majority of the main cast of Empire will return for Empire season 6. Meaning, Terence Howard will be back as Lucious Lyon and Bryshere Gray as Hakeem Lyon.
The final season of Empire will bring us more of one specific member of the Lyon Family.
Vivica A. Fox is all set to return as Candace Mason, the older sister of Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson). Fans are happy to hear that Fox is now a series regular.
The news was announced during a TCA event. Fox accentuated how the show has addressed “Taboo Subjects,” and shared what she is looking forward in the sixth season.
“Now that I have been made a series regular, I want to find out more about my son and what’s going on,” she said regarding a storyline on the show. This means fans will see more of her as she involves with his onscreen son (Damon J Gillispie) and issues of mental health.
Vivica was initially cast as Candace in 2015 and recurred in many episodes since Season two. Finally, after all these years she becomes a series regular for the final season. Maybe it was the right decision as the show is down one major character.
Meanwhile, Lethal Weapon alumna Keesha Sharp is all set for a recurring on the sixth and final season. Sharp will play Dr. Paula wick, a smart and insightful woman who offers endless compassion but can’t any kid of nonsense at all.
Jussie Smollett Is Out?
Yes, it’s official: Jussie Smollett will not be returning to “Empire.”
Recently, FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told reporters that Empire co-creator Lee Daniels for correct. Smollett won’t be back for the final season.
Despite Smollett’s contract extension for the sixth season, the actor is out of the final season. He was in the headlines for a while after a brush with the law. The star claimed he was attacked by two men wearing “MAGA” hats. Many accusations were made towards the star, such as fabricating the attack and filing a false report as well.
