Daybreak gained a cult fan following with its debut back in October 2019. The series gave a whole new perspective to the apocalyptic genre. Set in a unique premise. The teen drama introduces us to a group of highschoolers struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
Daybreak Season 2: Cancellation
Show creator Aron Coleite reveals in a tweet that the popular streaming giant has officially canceled their hit show. He writes a heartfelt message for fans saying that the entire Daybreak team is heartbroken. However, he adds that they’re grateful for getting the opportunity. Followers of the series were devasted to hear the news.
Fans were all pretty sure that a show like Daybreak had enough potential to at least get a second chance. None of us ever doubted the future of the series until the streamer actually canceled it. In fact, the debut season ended on much of a cliffhanger, hinting that there’s more to the story. Besides, there’s still enough plot left to make several other installments. As of now, viewers will all be left hanging with an incomplete story without Daybreak Season 2.

Why Did Netflix Cancel The Show?
Despite having a massive fan following, the post-apocalyptic teen show fails to compete with the streamer’s originals. Speculations around the internet say that the main reason behind Daybreak’s cancellation is its lack of marketing. Some fans believe that the series didn’t manage to get enough viewership because Netflix overlooks the promotion of such projects over its popular ones. At this point, this seems to be the likeliest reason for slitting a capable show this early.

Netflix seems to be on a brutal show slitting-spree lately. The cancellation of many potential series like Santa Clarita Diet, The OA, and others have brought in much backlash for the streaming giant. Subscribers are still protesting online and singing petitions so that the shows can return. However, projects slit on the streamer barely seem to get a revival, and Daybreak Season 2 is now on the list.
Can Another Platform Save Daybreak?
When a deserving show gets canceled, all we can expect is for another platform to save it. Netflix has previously saved plenty of such series.
