We’re finally reaching the end of Netflix’s most controversial show ever. The popular teen drama is all set to wrap up its story with another set of spine-chilling twists and turns in 13 Reasons Why Season 4. Well, get ready for some unexpected revelations and a bunch of cast alterations this time. As of now, here’s everything we know about the ultimate installment so far.
13 Reasons Why debuted back in 2017 to tell the story of a troubled teenage girl who commited suicide. Hannah Baker left thirteen tapes behind her, blaming her wrongdoers. The series intended to highlight issues such as bullying, and sexual assault at high schools today. Moreover, it went on to discuss depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues as well. On its release, the popular show encircled much controversy for its graphic depiction of suicide and rape. However, it managed to connect to millions and millions of teenagers around the globe.
13 Reasons Why Season 4 Is The Last Installment
With the early renewal of 13 Reasons Why Season 4 came a piece of bad news that the installment will wrap up the story of the popular show. Weeks prior to the August 23, 2019 premiere of the third season, Netflix renewed the series for its fourth and final chapter.
The reactions from fans were split into two opinions. Some of them were pretty unhappy with Season 4, bringing the end of the famous teen drama. However, others believed that wrapping up the story here is better than unnecessarily stretching the plot any further. The latter opinion emerged due to the heavily criticized Season 3. A large number of fans disliked the third installment and claimed the quality of story-telling degraded this time.
Is Season 4 Into Productions Yet?
Indeed, the fourth and final season of the teen drama is already into productions now. According to speculations, the cast and crew of 13RW began filming for Season 4 since the beginning of August 2019. Although, as of now, most of the actors are resisting sharing any pictures from the sets on their social media.
Most of the previous installment of the show took around six months to wrap up the shoot. Hence, 13 Reasons Why Season 4 may take around the same time to finish productions. However, keeping in mind that it’s the ultimate season, it’s fair to expect a couple of extra months for filming.
Latest Cast Alterations
Netflix’s popular teen show is known for having a vast cast list. We’ve seen some significant alterations in the cast throughout the previous seasons. One of the major changes is lead actress Katherine Langford’s departure from the third installment. Similarly, this time, we may lose another set of important actors.
After Bryce Walker’s demise in the previous installment, it isn’t hard to guess that Justin Prentice may not be back to play the infamous character. However, since the plot is still pretty much related to him, Walker may appear in a couple of flashbacks in 13 Reasons Why Season 4. On the other hand, after his off-screen death, we may not see much Montgomery de la Cruz, either. Although fans demand to know how he died in the future installment.
Besides the exiting characters, we may get to see some new faces as well. As of now, we can confidently name one of them. Oscar-nominee actor, Gary Sinise is now a part of the official cast of 13 Reasons Why Season 4. The actor is called in to play Dr. Robert Ellman, a family therapist who treats Clay in the final installment.
When Will 13 Reasons Why Season 4 Be On Netflix?
13 Reasons Why has never followed a certain release pattern since its debut back in March 2017. Hence, it’s hard to predict a firm premiere date for the upcoming season. Though, the installments usually take around 14-15 months to be back. Thus, we can hope for Season 4 to return to Netflix towards the end of 2020. However, it’s wise to wait for an official announcement by the streaming platform.
