Except for a rather unwelcome Jeremy Stark, she has no one in her corner. Every attempt she has made to take Diane down has backfired at her. If anything, it has only brought Jack and Diane closer than ever to each other. Moreover, Phyllis has unintentionally alienated both her children, Daniel and Summer. This is surely having a terrible impact on her. Furthermore, it will push her to make some drastic and reckless moves.

It was later revealed that she faked her own death and let Nikki believe that she was responsible for it. Phyllis Targets Two Birds With One Stone, Fakes Her Death On The Young And The Restless
Phyllis does not have many fans at the moment on The Young and The Restless. However, no one despises her more than Diane Jenkins in Genoa City. So if anything was to happen to Phyllis, Diane’s name would be the first name on the who dunnit list! Conceivably, that’s exactly what Phyllis would be counting on if she successfully fakes her death. Which she probably would, with Jeremy Stark’s help. After all, he wants to make Diane pay just as bad as Phyllis does. The duo might even infiltrate the alleged crime scene with evidence that points straight to Diane! And her past misgivings would do the rest to pave her way to prison!
Seeing Diane behind would alone be satisfying enough for Phyllis on The Young and The Restless. But her apparent death would also come with many added advantages. Of course, this would tear Diane away from Jack, and Phyllis can bask in the glory of saving him from Diane’s claws. Secondly, she can also enjoy the pleasure of sending her children on a guilt trip while she enjoys a trip on a pristine beach! Daniel and Summer have both distanced themselves from Phyllis, and if she were to die before they get a chance to smooth it over with her, they would be racked with guilt.
