Spencer Cassadine may be freshly out of prison, but he is no hardened criminal. The young Cassadine has his heart in right place and wants to do the right thing by his about to be born, half-sibling. Spencer has struggled with maintaining a healthy relationship with his father, Nik, all his life, and we all know how twisted things got with Esme. So, it’s no surprise that Spencer thinks Nik and Esme would ruin the baby’s life. Thus, he wants to fight to get custody of his sibling. However, latest spoilers for General Hospital tease that Spencer may feel forced to settle for co-parenting than full custody! But can he and Esme be on the same page?
Spencer’s History Weakens His Claim Against Esme
While Spencer is a fine young man, his history with being on the wrong side of the law might work against him on General Hospital. Diane Miller had already warned him that it won’t be an easy task to take custody of his half-sibling away from the biological parents. But Spencer was adamant about fighting for it. Initially, Spencer’s fight was against Esme as well as his father, Nik. But considering that Nik may have just died at Ava’s hands, Spencer might just be competing with Esme.
While we know that Spencer is far less evil than Esme on General Hospital, the courts might not see it that way. For instance, Spencer has already done jail time, but Esme’s crimes have not been fully proven yet. Moreover, if the courts see them as equal breakers of the law, even then, Esme’s claim to the baby’s custody remains far stronger than Spencer’s. After all, she is the biological mother of the baby, while Spencer is the half-brother. So if no new charges are brought upon Esme, the ruling will definitely come in her favor. Thus, the only viable choice that Spencer has at this point is a mutual agreement with Esme.
Spencer Agrees To Co-Parent The Baby With Esme On General Hospital
Apart from what the court has to say, Spencer’s grandma, Laura Collins, also has her own point of view on General Hospital. She strongly believes that Esme deserves a chance at motherhood. She may have done many questionable things, but that does not make her irredeemable. Especially if she is willing to turn a new leaf for her baby. Laura might convince Spencer to see Esme’s side of the story and allow her to have a chance at doing right by her child. Moreover, Spencer’s close ally, Trina herself has received a big jolt regarding her paternity. So she may also have some light to shed on the matter.
Trina would be devastated if Curtis really turns out to be her bio dad on General Hospital. She will feel cheated out of having a relationship with her birth father. This might make her see Esme and her situation in a more compassionate light. She would urge Spencer to not take away the baby’s chance to know and be loved by its mother. Moreover, if Nik actually dies, Spencer may have some regrets of his own to deal with. He will forever feel guilty for not working out the wrinkles in his relationship with his father. All of these factor combined may soften him toward Esme, and he might agree to settle for a co-parenting arrangement with her.
But how will that pan out on General Hospital? If Esme turns a new leaf and Spencer might get closer to her with the baby situation. What would that mean for him and Trina? Stay tuned to ABC over weekdays to find out how the story unfolds on General Hospital
