EastEnders Icon Melissa Suffield, better known as Lucy Beale on the BBC One soap, has been struggling with her health. According to reports, the 31-year-old has been dealing with it for the past six months and told her Instagram followers all about it. Let’s see what it’s all about!

EastEnders Star Melissa Shares Update On Health Battle

EastEnders alum Melissa recently took to her Instagram stories and shared an update about her health. The actress had to go through an endoscopy for her mystery disease and ‘drastic’ weight loss. She talked about how she has endured vomiting over the last six months. The star also spent a lot of money on private appointments to identify the cause.

Suffield told her followers that she had been diagnosed with small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). This means that excessive bacteria are present in a person’s small intestine.

As per the Mayo Clinic, SIBO commonly happens when a disease slows the passage of food and waste products in the digestive tract. This creates a breeding ground for bacteria, and excess of it can cause diarrhoea and weight loss along with malnutrition.

Furthermore, in her post, Melissa said, ‘It’s highly likely that I have an issue with B12 absorption. Why? Unsure. But we know it’s highly likely that the reason can come later. This needs to be addressed now.’ She genuinely wants to focus on healing and getting back to where and who she needs to be.

In addition, the actress also spoke about how she will be going to Cambridge next month for an appointment with a B2 specialist who will teach her how to self-administer a B12 injection. She said, ‘I want to stop spending all my spare time reading NICE guidelines and researching and reading papers and studies.

And spend my time playing with my son and seeing my friends and family and eating nice meals and not constantly worrying.’ She jokingly added that fans shouldn’t be surprised if we see her suddenly posting a lot of ads because this treatment is expensive. We wish Melissa a speedy recovery. For more EastEnders updates, keep following TV Season & Spoilers!
