Meri is the first wife of Kody Brown. Once, she was in an online relationship pretending to be someone else. She shared intimate details of the family with the catfish and expressed her desire to leave Kody. The news of this catfish ordeal rocked the Brown family’s world. It took years to rebuild the trust in one another.
Meri wanted more children with Kody, but things never turned out well. So, she had to settle with one only. She has a daughter Mariah with Kody. Moreover, Mariah came out as a gay that disturbed Meri for a while. “I just always expected that she would grow up, meet a guy, get married and have kids. I kind of always expected that,” Meri admitted during an episode.
Meri used to work when the Browns lived in Utah. However, when the family decided to go on TV and be in the limelight, she had to let go of her job.
Meri runs a personal business away from their family. She opened up her bed and breakfast business in Utah.
Step-Sibling Turned Sister Wife Janelle Brown
Janelle is the second wife of Kody but the first to become a mother. The two welcomed their son Logan in 1994.
Janelle has been the step-sibling of Kody. His father, Willian, married Janelle’s mom Sheryl until 2013 when he passed away. Willian also practiced polygamy, and Sheryl was not his only wife.
Before her marriage with Kody, Janelle was married to Meri’s brother. So, before being sister wives, Meri and Janelle were sisters-in-law.
Janelle has always worked to assist the Brown household financially. Currently, she is working as a real estate agent.
Janelle is a grandma of two grandchildren. Her daughter, with Kody, Maddie, and her husband, Caleb, have given the Browns their first two grandkids – Little Axel and Evangalynn.
Janelle once left the Brown family as a result of postpartum depression. After giving birth to her fifth child, she went elsewhere with her children only to join the family later when they returned to Utah.

Christine is the only sister wife who had come from a plural family. This was why it didn’t make her a lot of trouble adjusting to the family. However, her personal experiences made her anxious when the family decided to come into the spotlight.
Christine has always stayed back and taken care of all the children while other women moved out to earn some money. She remained to be the primary caregiver in the family.
Christine did face her share of financial struggles back in 2010. Although the Brown family makes money out of Sister Wives, they have filed for bankruptcy too.
The Only Legal Wife Of Kody Brown: Robyn Brown
Robyn is the only legal wife of Kody. Rest are his spiritual wives. Previously, Meri was his legally wed spouse. However, At the time he wanted to marry Robyn, she already had three children. If Kody were to have any right on them, he needed to be Robyn’s legal husband. So, he divorced Meri, on paper, to marry Robyn.
Robyn is divorced. Before her union with Kody, she was married to another man for eight years. On her first meeting with Kody, he spoke down on her for being a divorced, single mom with a minivan.
Kody spends most of his nights with Robyn. Although he does spend time with all his wives, he is only physical with Robyn. She seems to be his favorite wife.
Robyn carries three children with her first marriage. Her eldest son Dayton was diagnosed with a neurological condition in second grade. Since then, Robyn has educated herself on how she can support him, and she has done a fantastic job at that.
Robyn refused to take help from her sister wives when she gave birth to her first child with Kody. In fact, she sought help from her sister.
Kody Brown: The Man Of Four Wives
The man of four wives is reportedly looking for a fifth wife. After a severe tiff with Meri, he went out for a new wife.
Kody and his entire family are ousted from their church, the Apostolic United Brethren.
The Brown family of 23 has dealt with severe financial debts in the past years. It is a real struggle for Kody to support his four wives and their children.
Kody is not a prince charming at all. In fact, he had fat-shamed Christine and Janelle and spoke down to Robyn for being a divorcee and a single mother.
Kody is father to eighteen children, out of which eight are daughters. Reportedly, he doesn’t spend a lot of time with his daughters. According to him, the girls should remain indoors with the women and the boys outside to play rough.
