Alaskan Bush People matriarch Ami Brown turned 57 this August. The Brown family had a joyous celebration months after Ami struggled for her life. The fans might recall that Ami was diagnosed with lung cancer. However, after a prolonged period of surgery, she’s slowly getting back to normal. So when she completed 57 years of her life, her family left no stone unturned in making her feel special. Her son, Bear Brown, shared a sweet post wishing her a happy birthday. Ami Brown was diagnosed with Stage III non-small cell lung cancer in 2017. She told People in August that year about the onset of her problems. She felt pain in her libs, felt nauseated for days, so much so that walking a small distance gave her jitters. Additionally, there were days when she was bedridden. However, it was only in December 2016 when she went to a dentist that she got to know about the issue. And there it all started.

In the same interview, Billy Brown shared the strength of his wife. He said that Ami is the one to take the burden upon herself and take care of everything else. However, at this point, she’s truly helpless. Billy continued that this is the time for the family to pay back to Ami Brown. Moving ahead, Ami’s daughter Rain Brown explained about the shock she felt after discovering the news. The youngest of all the siblings said that no matter what’s your age or what you’ve been through, knowing that your mother has cancer scares you!

Later, the Brown family moved from rural Alaska to Southern California for Ami to continue with the treatment. She went into remission sometime in December 2017 and is still there. She also told People around that time how she has to go every three months and get scanned. Ami further explained how cancer has become a part of her and would be there. However, she is keen to make others learn about the joy of living in the moment.
According to a news tabloid, Cheatsheet, Ami is recovering from the illness and doing well now. The family is excited about seeing her progress and so are fans after watching her on the latest season. As of now, the Browns are intent on building a fully self-contained village which has been Billy Brown’s dream. Alongside this, they’re dealing with the recent wildfire and the global pandemic as well.
