In the recent 90 Day Fiance episode, Elizabeth and Andrei have decided to visit Moldova, his home country. While fans are happy that Andrei is meeting his family after a long time, Elizabeth is not so happy. She feels like Andrei is acting differently. She also calls him a ‘Chauvinistic Alpha Male’, to be very precise. Let’s take a look at what’s going on.
Elizabeth Questions Andrei’s Traditional Ideas of Gender Roles
According to Andrei, he expects to be the head of the household. He expects Libby to be modest and keep her drinking in control. However, Elizabeth questions the fact that if he is so concerned about gender roles, why doesn’t he get a job.
When they arrived in Moldova, the couple had an intense argument about Americans vs. Moldovans at the breakfast table. Libby said in the confessional that she had some trouble communicating with her in-laws because of the language barrier. But she also mentioned that she would like to know them better.
Andrei’s mom made breakfast which Elizabeth liked. She asked him whether she does it every day or only with guests? Andrei asked his mother nad translate that she does this every day but amps up her cooking game when guests are there. Libby asked whether she doesn’t get tired. That’s when Andrei took a jab at her and Americans in general.
90 Day Fiance: Andrei Calls Moldovans More Energetic
Without asking his mom the answer to Libby’s question, he said that his mom says there is no room for tired. According to him, in Moldova, people work and move. Andrei calls Moldovans more energetic than Americans when Elizabeth asked him whether he was implying that she doesn’t work hard enough.
When Libby pointed out that he is currently unemployed despite being presumably the head of the household, Andrei said that she was insulting him and was glad that his parents didn’t understand. In the confessional, Andrei said that he didn’t mean to offend Libby. But he was just trying to tell her how Moldovan women do it.
He also made it clear that they are not in America anymore. Libby was worried about Andrei’s changed behavior and thought that it was way too early in the trip to start insulting one another. Plus, she also pointed out the irony of the fact that Andrei was defining gender roles while he was a stay-at-home father and she was the breadwinner.
