Spider-Man is one of the most popular figures in the history of pop culture. The icon has transcended the changing mediums of entertainment, from comic books to video games to television and cinematic screen, for several decades. It has influenced several generations along the way, including ours. Currently, we have more than one franchise of the web-slinging hero on the silver screen. However, in October 2021, a fan-made trailer for a film called Spiderman Lotus caught the eyes of millions of viewers across the world. But don’t worry if you don’t know about the film because here we bring everything you need to know about it.
What Is Spiderman Lotus?
Spiderman Lotus is an upcoming independent fan-made film based on the titular superhero from the pages of Marvel comics. It is not associated with either Sony or Marvel Studios in any way. The first teaser for the movie was dropped in July 2021 on the official YouTube channel of the YouTuber Gavin J. Konop, who is writing and directing the movie.
However, it was in October 2021 when Konop and his team dropped a full-length trailer for Spiderman Lotus. Meanwhile, the production quality of the trailer, costume design, background music, and Konop’s acting everything were top-notch. As a result, the trailer started getting attention from Spiderman fans all around. And the creator managed to raise over 250000 dollars from crowdsourcing to complete the movie.
What Is The Story Of Spiderman Lotus?
Fan-made movies of comic book characters aren’t a new phenomenon, but the quality of Konop’s attempt has caught the attention of millions. One of the main reasons behind people’s attention toward the film is that the storyline line looked gripping in it. Spiderman Lotus follows Peter’s story after his lover Gwen Stacy was killed in a tragic incident. Much like Andrew Garfield’s version of the Spiderman.
In the movie, Pewter meets a terminally ill kid who is a huge fan of Spiderman while dealing with the internal dilemma of whether or not to continue his web-slinging adventures of leading a normal life mourning Gwen. The adaptation draws inspiration from several comic books, including 1984’s The Kid Whoo The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man written by Roger Ster.
Racism Scandal Hamper The Film!
The buzz was very high for Spiderman Lotus after the brilliant trailer. Meanwhile, recently, the movie has been wrapped in unwanted controversy. Due to several racist remarks made on their social media accounts over the past few weeks, the lead actor and director of the movie, Wayne Warden and Gavin Konop, have received a ton of anger from fans.
Direct messages from prominent actors Wayne Warden and Gavin Konop were made public. They contained harsh language, including several references to Black people, racial slurs, and homophobic remarks. Both Warden and Konop have made remarks about the incident on their Twitter pages; Warden attributed the language to his background, while Konop decided to stop using social media. The film’s future is still uncertain as of right now.
