Welcome To Plathville: How Are Barry & Kim Co-Parenting Their Kids?

TLC; Barry and Kim Plath

One of the biggest setbacks in Welcome To Plathville was the divorce of Barry and Kim Plath. After nearly 25 years of marriage, the couple called it off, describing their relationship as “irrevocably broken.” While Barry insisted on mending their strained bond, Kim appeared certain about her decision. Shortly after their split, the matriarch also began dating someone new.

With the wound of their separation still fresh, Kim and Barry have no choice but to co-parent three of their minor children. Notably, most of the former couple’s ten children are now grown up and living independently. However, their daughters, Amber, 15, Cassia, 13, and Mercy, 11, are still under the care of Kim and Barry. One might wonder how Barry and Kim are co-parenting them despite their differences.

Welcome To Plathville: A Look At Barry And Kim’s Custody Agreement!

Barry and Kim listed their separation on December 23, 2021, before eventually filing for divorce on June 26, 2024. During an episode on Welcome To Plathville season 4, Barry admitted feeling a “little betrayed.” He described his divorce as a “tragedy,” hoping to fix the situation. Kim, on the other hand, seemed determined about the separation, stating that she was “not happy” in their relationship.

With divorce comes a lengthy custody battle. However, that was not the case for the Welcome To Plathville stars. They agreed to share the custody of their three underage daughters, Amber, 15, Cassia, 13, and Mercy, 11. According to the agreement, one parent has the girls full-time for an entire week, and then they switch up, repeating a back-and-forth pattern.

However, this doesn’t explain their situation during the holidays. Moreover, it is unclear if the girls will be allowed more freedom regarding their stays as they grow older. As of now, it appears this method aligns well with the family members. Overall, Kim and Barry are trying to look past their differences and find common ground for the sake of their children.

Their older children are also making efforts to establish a peaceful environment in the family. Moriah rented out a vacation home for everyone to relax together. Ethan is also often seen praising his parents for setting their differences aside for their children. However, despite Kim and Barry spending more time together as a family, it is unlikely for them to get back together, especially with Kim dating someone else.
