Coronation Street Star Explains Cassie’s New Storyline

Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) is finally getting a new job in Coronation Street. However, there is a twist. After causing trouble between Abi and Kevin Webster, she lost her job at the garage. Since then, her mum, Evelyn Plummer, has been pressuring her to find another job.

Actress Claire Sweeney explained that Cassie is in ‘no man’s land.’ She mentioned that Cassie lost her job, which is particularly challenging for someone with a history of addiction. Coronation Street actress added that Cassie had tried to get a job at Streetcars, but Steve McDonald dismissed her application.

This upset Cassie because, while he had flirted with her before, he then labelled her as trouble and refused to hire her. However, Cassie’s luck changes when she overhears Steve, Amy Barlow, and Daniel Osbourne discussing care options for Ken. She offers to do the job for a quarter of the cost.

Amy and Daniel love the idea, so Steve agrees. But then, he lies to Ken, saying Cassie is a professional hired through an agency. The Coronation Street star revealed that Cassie never claims to be a qualified carer, but the family lets Ken believe otherwise.

Nevertheless, she eventually admits she isn’t qualified and only has experience caring for her ex. This makes Ken furious. The soap star explained that Ken is already uncomfortable with the idea of needing care. Hence, Cassie wonders if she can hold onto this job longer than she had previously.

Next up, there is a touching moment where Cassie tells Ken that allowing himself to accept help can benefit both parties. This advice resonates with Ken, making him reconsider and more receptive to support. Will this job be a long-term thing? Or can we expect more turns?
