Over the years, “The Young And The Restless” has seen a lot of things. One of these things has been the feud between Jack Abbott and Victor Newman. Over decades, the two of them have been in a cut-throat competition for a number of things, and that has only caused the rivalry between the two of them.
Long time The Young And The Restless viewers would know that Jack and Victor have been rivals for as long as we can remember. But how did this start? What is the story behind it? Here is everything about it.
How Did The Rivalry Start?
Y&R fans are well aware that Jack and Victor’s rivalry roots back decades. It isn’t just because of the business competition; it is also personal. Viewers would recall that Jack and Victor have the kind of rivalry where they are screaming at one another, throwing chairs at each other, and all ready to kill each other.
There isn’t a point we can pick when all of this started. However, we can think of an incident that actually started it all. It was all when Victor took over Jack’s family company Jabot Cosmetics. While Jack was able to win it back, that started animosity between the two men. Not only professionally, but Jack and Victor had also been enemies on a personal end too.
Jack is very protective of his sister Ashley, and when he was married to Nikki, Victor and Ashley were on an on-and-off basis. Victor had hurt Ashley many times, and that is something that Jack found hard to forgive. So, the rivalry between them just continued to rise. Over the years of animosity that these two men have, there have been some moments that have caught our eye. Let’s take a look here.
The Young And The Restless: Jack Almost Let Victor Die
A few years back, Jack and Victor got in a fight where the two of them were almost screaming at each other in their office. It got so bad that the stress crossed all levels. Owing to all of this, Victor ended up having a heart attack and fell to the floor.
He begged Jack to call for help. But Jack’s dark side took control, and he was willing to do nothing and let Victor die. However, Jack might be bad, but he isn’t a murderer. So, he finally called an ambulance and saved Victor.
Victor Replaced Jack
In another yet very evil incident, Jack and Victor’s rivalry hit the roof when Victor replaced him. Crazy Kelly Andrews had kidnaped Jack, and while Jack was missing, Victor brought Jack’s doppelganger in place and tried to get away with it.
He brought drug lord Marco Annicelli and thought he would do his bidding and, in the end, hurt Jabot Cosmetics. However, Marco crossed the line when he started to cause trouble for Victor. He even slept with Phyllis Summers.
Later on, Phyllis came to know that the man she had been sleeping with wasn’t her husband and she felt assaulted. So, she vowed to make Jack pay and sent Victor to jail. However, this prison term was very short.
The Young And The Restless: Time Has Passed, and Things Have Become Better
While Victor and Jack have been enemies for decades, things have become better for the two of them. Recently, Jack asked Victor out for a drink, and things have been better between them. Fans like this newfound friendship, but it is yet to be seen how long this goes. Recently, actor Peter Bergman, who plays the character of Jack Abbott on The Young And The Restless, celebrated 30 years on the soap and reflected on his time on the soap.
While speaking about his time, he talked about the bittersweet rivalry between him and Victor and how they have become legendary enemies. The actor says that ten years in, he realizes that Victor’s presence in Jack’s life made it more interesting for his character. He is very happy that, along with Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), they have been able to create something like this.
Victor and Jack are enemies, yes, but with time, things have become pretty bittersweet between the two of them. Do you enjoy watching them together? Tell us. The Young and The Restless have worked very hard to build this dynamic. Do you like it?
