Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have planned to ditch the next royal wedding. They just want to dodge any awkward run-ins with the Prince of Wales. So, there’s a grand royal wedding taking place in June where Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is exchanging vows. The shindig is marked on every royal’s calendar! While many anticipate that Sussexes would turn up, the duo will give it a miss. The frosty vibes between Harry and William haven’t warmed up a bit. Dive in to know more!
Why Prince Harry Will Skip the Ceremony
Royal biographer Tom Quinn spilled the beans about this whole Prince Harry situation in a chat with the Daily Mirror. He revealed that Prince William is very much likely to attend the ceremony in Chester, Cheshire. It is because Grosvenor is the godfather to his young boy, Prince George.
Moreover, Quinn claims that the Sussexes won’t make it to the event. He revealed, “Harry declined on the grounds that it would just be ‘too awkward.”
However, hold up, as there’s more to the story! Tom continued, “Prince Harry knows he can’t attend without Meghan, and Meghan has absolutely insisted she won’t be there.” Earlier, everyone believed that Harry and Meghan weren’t invited, but it turns out they were. They decided to decline it- all thanks to awkwardness. Furthermore, a source from Page Six revealed that the Duke did receive a “save the date” card a while back.
However, Prince Harry rang Hugh, saying it would be too uncomfortable for him and Meghan to attend. “So, he made his apologies, and Hugh understood.” Anyway, the Duke will touch the UK soil just before the wedding. He’ll be around to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games in early May. Will his visit give more room to the drama? You tell us!
