The Royals Go ONLINE! King Charles III Sends Virtual Cheers For Commonwealth Day

The annual Commonwealth Day service is coming up on Monday, March 11, 2024, but King Charles III will bail on the big event. Commonwealth Day is a big deal celebrated across continents such as Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Americas, the Pacific, and Europe. Well, the King won’t be able to make it due to his ongoing cancer treatment. But hold up, his majesty has a special virtual surprise for us! What is it?

King Charles III: His Majesty Will Miss the Commonwealth Service

Charles has planned to share a video message straight from Windsor Castle, talking about unity among the 56 member states. Moreover, this year’s Commonwealth theme is “One Resilient Common Future.” King Charles III wanted to thank everyone in the Commonwealth despite missing the event.

If you don’t know, folks across the continents have bombarded Charles with well wishes following his cancer diagnosis. He has received over 7,000 cards and letters urging him to “never give up.” By the way, Queen Camilla will walk into the King’s shoes, leading the family members attending the service. Plus, Prince William will join in alongside the Queen.

Meanwhile, King Charles shone a light on the Commonwealth’s diversity at the previous year’s service at Westminster Abbey. He said, “The Commonwealth has been a constant in my own life, and yet its diversity continues to amaze and inspire me.” In addition, Charles talked about its potential in the world, which demanded one’s highest ambition. He added, “Its sheer scale challenges us to unite and be bold.”

This year’s theme mirrors the focus of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). It is set to take place in Samoa later this year. We’ll definitely miss the absence of his majesty on the big day. But here’s hoping Queen Camilla still brings the royal flair!
