Well, here, The Russian Knot appears to refer to a cipher- a device that carries hidden messages. However, it could reveal the true identity of Red and also about his loyalty. So far, we certainly believed that Red is a double agent who’s beguiling Russians by providing their valuable information to the higher authorities of the US.
But what made Liz believed in it? Well, so simple she just wanted to fulfill Neville Townsend’s demand. Since he agreed to her alliance only on one condition, he wanted to learn everything about Red.
