Tyler and Catelynn became parents when they were on 16 And Pregnant. Now, they are on another Teen Mom spinoff, The Family Reunion. They have also become parents to three more daughters. Unfortunately, they had to give up their first daughter, Carly, for adoption.
It doesn’t mean Tyler and Catelynn forgot Carly. On the contrary, the couple has kept in touch with their teen daughter, or at least they have tried to. It turns out there were some issues between the adoptive and biological parents. And now, Tyler and Catelynn are expressing their frustration online. But the fans have had enough.
Teen Mom: Tyler Tells The Fans Not To Hate Catelynn
Catelynn and Tyler had given up their eldest daughter, Carly, for adoption. But they were still in touch with Carly and her adoptive parents, Brandon and Teressa. The parents agreed to visit Carly and the MTV couple and meet with them. But it seemed like they didn’t happen in the last few years. So Catelynn took it to social media to post about it. The star had discussed how much pain it brought her to not be able to see her daughter.
In her Instagram story, Catelynn explained, “Adoption is a wild thing.” The process leaves you at someone else’s “mercy.” She then shaded Teressa and Brandon, saying the couple told them they “love(d)” them. The Teen Mom star revealed that the couple couldn’t “take TWO days out of their entire year” to let Catelynn and Tyler see Carly. She wanted to express her frustration, but the fans started attacking her. Reading the fans’ reaction, Tyler came to the rescue. He asked the fans not to attack Catelynn like this.
Tyler told the fans that Teressa and Brandon had chosen “MULTIPLE times” not to meet them. He also revealed that this had been happening for “15 years.” The star insisted that he and his wife “accept the decision without” wanting an explanation. He also “trust(s) that” Brandon and Teressa made the “best” decision for Carly, and this is one of them.
But then Tyler insisted on how he and Catelynn had given them the “gift,” which was parenthood. He might have even tried to play the emotional manipulation card with the audience. Fans read in the Teen Mom star’s stories that adoption wasn’t “without a natural cost.”
He also said he and his wife were fighting their “biological and instinctual nature” every day. The celeb went on to explain to the fans how his wife was “grieving” and trying to share her “pain.” He asked them not to “attack” her when she is being “vulnerable” with them.
Teen Mom: Fans Furious At Tyler’s Response
Many fans were sad to learn that Tyler and Cate couldn’t meet Carly this year. But some were angry at Tyler’s response. They took to Reddit to vent their anger. Many were also upset at him for repeatedly bashing Teressa and Brandon.
A fan called the Teen Mom star “performative and disingenuous.” Others told him that he and Catelynn had “signed those papers,” making Teressa and Brandon the parents. So the latter can decide on anything they want.
A few suggested that Tyler and Catelynn’s OnlyFans might be why they can’t meet Carly. Others said it might be because of their rude behavior towards Brandon and Teressa.
