MTV aired Teen Mom for the first time in 2009. The show followed the everyday life of pregnant teenagers and was an outgrowth of 16 And Pregnant. The series still has ongoing spinoffs on air. Many of its cast are now grown up with their own families and kids.
The show’s star, Kailyn Lowry, had also appeared in its predecessor show. She is famous among the audience for having many children with different fathers. And recently, her son, Rio, whom she shares with her current boyfriend Elijah Scott, turned one year old. The star has shared snippets of the birthday party with her online followers.

Kailyn Lowry had made news headlines for getting pregnant so soon after her son Rio’s birth. She had also kept Rio’s birth a secret from the Teen Mom fans. But, recently, she has started opening up and sharing more details about him. The star shared photos and videos of Rio’s first birthday party.
The MTV star took to Instagram on November 20 to share the video. Rio’s big birthday bash was ‘The Grinch’ movie-themed. The clip showed Lowry’s Delaware mansion decorated with green, red, and white balloons. It also had giant Christmas balls, a huge Christmas tree, and other decorations according to the theme. And then there was a cardboard cut-out of The Grinch with the sign “Rio’s a mean one.” The sign was a twist on the song ‘You’re a Mean One’.
Baby Rio’s birthday cake was multi-tiered with red and green frosting. It was decorated with candy and had a ‘1’ propped on the top. And boy, did the birthday boy enjoy the cake. Kailyn’s photo showed Rio eating the cake and sitting on his high chair. There were also The Grinch face cookies for the guests to enjoy.
The former Teen Mom captioned the video, “I have soaked up every minute of this past year with Rio I cannot believe how fast it went Happy Birthday to the best baby! You’re a mean ONE.” Since Kailyn said that her family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, the theme was indeed adorable. The fans enjoyed every minute of the clip. One even commented saying, “He is so precious.”
Teen Mom: Kailyn Kept Her Pregnancy & Rio’s Birth A Secret
Being famous means that the audience follows everything you do. And so is the case with Kailyn. In February, TheSun reported that Kailyn had given birth to Rio. But the star hadn’t said anything regarding it, as she wanted to give her son his privacy. Several fans had noticed and pointed out Kailyn’s baby bump even during the pregnancy, but she had remained mum.
And now Kailyn is finally making things public slowly. In the October episode of Barely Famous, the star revealed about giving birth to Rio. She had then announced her pregnancy with twins a month after talking about Rio. She said she had welcomed her baby boy in November 2022, and now, less than a year later, she was pregnant again.
The star had explained why she had kept silent about Rio. Kail told People that she “wanted to be able to tell my own story on my own terms.” Kailyn also revealed how her eldest son Issac had advised her about making Rio’s appearance online, Rio’s choice.
