Kody first married Meri, and then after a while, he married Janelle. Kody’s father has a plural family. He had three wives, and Janelle’s mother was one of them. It was natural for Kody and Janelle to opt for polygamy as they grew up seeing it. Janelle’s mom, Sheryl Usher, was one of Kody’s dad, William Winn’s, three wives. When Kody was a teen, his dad married again. So, technically, Kody and Janelle are stepsiblings.

Janelle revealed that, as of now, she has no intention of remarrying. But the Sister Wives star has not closed the door of love, but she is not looking for it. She is focusing on her career. Janelle is working at Taeda Farms and has moved to North Carolina.
Janelle does not want to go back into marriage. She also shared that in 2025, she will detox and become a better version of herself. Janelle is truly starting over in life, and it’s quite interesting to see her resilience.
Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Reveals Her Mother Did Not Want Her to Marry Kody
In Season 19 of Sister Wives, Janelle Brown revealed that her mother was married to Kody’s father. She also shared that only one family member attended her wedding to Kody. Her mother was initially against her marriage, but she was the only one who attended the wedding. Janelle added, “My mom was at the wedding because she came to save me from the polygamists.” She further added, “But ended up marrying Kody’s dad three months before we got married.”
This seems like a multiverse of madness! Janelle added that her mother was against her marriage to Kody at first. Janelle explained, “So my mom was obviously OK with it. But the rest of my family was really not OK with it. So they didn’t come.” If you though this was it, then you are wrong! Janelle has also been related to Meri in more ways than one.
Janelle was previously married to Adam Barber, who is actually Meri’s brother. She married Adam in 1988 and split with him in 1990. A few years later, in 1993, she married Kody. He later married Christine and Robyn. Janelle, in the Reality Life Podcast, shared that she only lived with Adam for six months. The diva added, “I think we might have lived together physically.”
Janelle further added that it was awkward meeting Kody as he was with Meri. She said, “I didn’t cross paths with him. I was not at Meri’s house all the time.” She further added, “I mean, I was there occasionally. I just happened to be there when Kody came.” She also explained that Meri took a minute to understand the situation, as there were so many emotions. This is truly quite interesting.
