Sister Wives: Brown Family Is Not Safe For Trans Members? Slammed For Transphobia

TLC: LEON BROWN & THE BROWN FAMILY

The Sister Wives family has evolved a lot during their time on TV. The Browns made their debut in 2010, and the viewers have seen a lot of joyous moments as well as hardships in the family. Kody Brown and his four spouses have all raised 18 kids together. Most of them have grown up by now and are embracing their individual identities. One of them is Kody and Meri Brown’s child, Leon. Last year, they came out as trans, and with their new name, they also revealed their pronouns to be they/them.

While the fanbase has been happy for them, they have been skeptical about how the other members feel about this. After all, the Brown family follows a conservative Mormon lifestyle. So, another member of the LGBTQIA+ community, i.e., Gwendlyn Brown, who identifies as bisexual, also spoke up about this. Christine and Kody’s daughter revealed that their half-sibling Leon has been distancing themselves from the rest of the plural family as they don’t feel “safe” around them. So, is the Brown family not safe for people identifying as transgender people? Keep reading to find out.

Sister Wives: Gwen Brown Hints There Are Transphobic People In The Brown Family!

As mentioned above, Meri Brown’s only child came out as trans and nonbinary last year. They introduced themselves as Leon Brown and talked about how hard they have been working on accepting their new identity. Their half-sibling, Gwen Brown, also spoke about this on her social media handle. She revealed that Leon had been “taking space” from the family. She further mentioned that the Browns follow a Mormon fundamentalist lifestyle. Alas, people from this community haven’t been kind to LGBTQIA+ people. As they are “conservative,” they have also been “partially against transsexuality.”

Therefore, Leon Brown has been maintaining the rest of the family for their “emotional health.” They have been surrounding themselves with the people who have been providing him with a safe space. While Leon’s mother was very supportive of their coming out, Gwen stated that “transphobes” very much exist in their family. Gwen’s statement came after a Sister Wives follower pointed out that Kody Brown had once mentioned how his child isn’t able to “fit” in.

Gwen talked about this while saying it could be because Leon was the only child and didn’t have siblings of their own to mingle with. As per her, it’s not like Leon does not fit in. They have just decided to “stick to” the people who feel “safer” to them. Christine’s daughter also stated their half-sibling had found a “safer community” for themselves.

Sister Wives: Who Was Gwen Hinting At While Talking Of Transphones In The Family?

Gwen Brown has been very vocal, and upfront about the Brown family secrets through her Youtube and Patreon accounts. That’s where she opened up about her half-sibling Leon. The 21-year-old made it clear that while some families have been very supportive of them, there have been “transphobes” in the family. Soon, the Sister Wives fans started putting on their thinking caps to wonder who Gwen must be referring to.

While Kody had mentioned that they didn’t think Leon was “fitting in,” the fans assumed the patriarch must not be at ease with their new identity. At the same time, another viewer pointed out that Gwen had once come after her older brother, Paedon. She did so while calling him the “most awful” person she had the chance of and said he was “a transphobe” and “violently abusive.”

So, fans understood that Paedon was definitely one of the members. In fact, he kept referring to Leon by his “dead name” during one of his videos. It is something they had mentioned people refrain from doing. Keep an eye on TV Season & Spoilers for all the latest Sister Wives updates.
