The British establishment has given out very little information, but has clarified that King Charles cancer and enlarged prostate are different matters. Thus, debunking the speculation that he is suffering from prostate cancer.

As it turns out, that the doctors discovered King Charles cancer while they were treating him for an enlarged prostate. As per news reports, he has already started treatment for the cancer on Monday, February 5, 2024. While the globe was contemplating the sudden announcement of the unexpected diagnosis, many oncologists proposed that such chance diagnosis are common.

Dr. Otis Brawley, an oncologist at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore explained that he recently experienced a similar case as King Charles cancer diagnosis. He recalled that a man had come for a routine prostate cancer surveillance. And one of his residents ordered a chest x-ray for no particular reason. Shockingly, the x-ray showed that the patient actually had lung cancer. Furthermore, Dr. Brawley explained that not all cancers are alike. Some demand immediate treatment, while for others the treatment can wait.

The Koh-i-noor diamond is perhaps the world’s most famous and opulent one. The historic and mystic gem first originated in South India and then traversed through many rulers and dynasties to finally find a home in the hands of the British Royals. While, there are many discrepancies around it’s actual mining, it is believed that the world’s largest diamond – weighing 105.6 carats was mined in the Kollur Mines of the Golconda region, now situated in Telangana, India.

The unprecedented beauty of the kohinoor ensured that every eye that fell upon it wanted to acquire it. The earliest notable documentation of the opulent gem’s use was by Shah Jahan. He commissioned the famous Peacock Throne that houses Kohinoor in all it’s glory. Subsequently, in 1739, Persian Invader Nader Shah seized the diamond for himself. Thus, setting the wheels in motion for the many battles that followed for the possession of Kohinoor.

The magnificent gem then traveled through many continents, centuries and dynasties due to it’s grandiose. Until it finally returned back home to India, finding a place in Sikh Ruler Ranjit Singh’s hands. He retrieved it for India in 1813, after defeating the Afghan Durrani dynasty. Unfortunately, it did not last in Ranjit Singh’s hands long. In 1839, following his demise, The British East India Company orchestrated Kohinoor’s possession. Eventually, housing it with the British Royal Family, where it still remains to date.

While the Koh-i-noor is known for it’s unparalleled beauty and splendor, it also is a gem shrouded in mystery. The diamond has just as many haunting legends as it has had royal admirers. The legend dictates that any male ruler who possessed the diamond has ultimately met their demise and the downfall of his dynasty. Thus, figuratively etching in stone and history the legend that Kohinoor is perhaps cursed.

The traces of this can be seen in the ultimate collapses of several dynasties that housed it. May it be the Khilji , Tughlaq, Persian, Durrani or the Sikh empires. In fact, when The British East India Company acquired the kohinoor by imprisoning Ranjeet Singh’s queen and son to sign the Lahore treaty, which ultimately gave them the diamond, the company itself was nearly destroyed due to the revolts of 1857.

Fearing that this was the doing of the curse, The British made sure that moving forward, the koh-i-noor only graced the jewels of female monarchs and members of the British Royal Family. Including – Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. While initially, Queen Victoria adorned the koh-i-noor as a brooch. Queen Alexandra had it set in her Crown. Even today the diamond graces the coronation crown that passed down from Queen Elizabeth II to King Charles III in 2022.

Which brings us to the recent incident of King Charles Cancer diagnosis in January, 2024. While, doctors have a reasonable medical explanation for the sudden discovery. Many people across the globe can’t help but connect the conspicuous timing of the diagnosis to the curse of koh-i-noor. While, it is hard to say whether or not the legends rendering kohinoor cursed are true or not. We must admit that the timing certainly makes one wonder. Having said that, we wish King Charles III a speedy recovery from cancer.
