Real Housewives: Erika Jayne’s Ex, Tom Girardi, Found Guilty Of $15M Embezzlement! [Sentenced To 80 Years]

Erika Jayne and her estranged husband Tom Girardi were one of the most compatible couples on Real Housewives. Sadly, the pair announced their separation in November 2020 after 21 years of marriage. During their time together, Tom would rarely appear on the Bravo show due to his high-profile job while Erika was a regular castmate.

Only a month after their surprising divorce, Tom and Erika were hit with a lawsuit in December. The former couple was accused of embezzling funds. However, the judge ruled in Erika’s favor, confirming that she was not aware of her husband’s crimes. It appears Tom has not been able to bid farewell to his legal woes as a federal judge recently found him guilty of embezzling millions from clients. So, what’s the latest on Tom Girardi? Let’s find out.

Real Housewives: Erika Jayne’s Ex Tom Girardi Found Guilty Of Wire Fraud

Tom Girardi, the estranged husband of Real Housewives star Erika Jayne, was accused of embezzling $15 million in settlement funds from four clients. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges in 2023. In a surprising turn of events, on Tuesday, August 27, a Los Angeles Federal Judge found the debarred California attorney guilty of four counts of wire fraud.

Notably, each of the four counts makes up a maximum sentence of 20 years. This could eventually land Tom in jail for 80 years. His sentencing will take place in December. In the 13 days of trial, the judge heard about Girardi’s 10-year-long Ponzi scheme. His scams helped him deceive his clients and steal millions of dollars from their settlement funds in personal injury cases.

The clients claimed that Tom would spend that money on other clients of Girardi Keese, his now-defunct law firm. The prosecutors also alleged that Tom used the embezzlement money for personal expenses, such as paying off his American Express Credit card bills. Moreover, his attorney blamed the alleged fraud on G&K’s former chief financial officer, Christopher Kamon.

They also put forward Tom’s medical conditions, claiming that he suffers from dementia. Christopher, who is also facing the charges, will appear in court separately in January. His charges include embezzling $10 million from Girardi Keese and allegedly spending it on home remodeling, sports cars, and an escort. Notably, this is not the first time Tom is dealing with legal issues.
