Prince Williams got some thoughtful gifts for his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, and their three children. King Charles has appointed William as the new Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. Notably, it was also the event where he received these gifts. This was his first engagement as the Colonel-in-Chief. Keep reading to get the full scoop on the whole story of it.
Prince William’s Accepts Special Gift For Kate
On May 13, the new Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps started his first day alongside his father, King Charles. Prince William’s wife, Princess Kate Middleton, was not present during his military appointment but was there in spirit.
The 41-year-old Prince of Wales received an AAC tartan wrap of the Princess and a scarf for himself. He also received three wooden helicopters for their children, Daily Mail’s royal editor posted on X.
The King handed over the responsibilities and officially appointed William the new title. However, Kate wasn’t able to attend the ceremony because she hadn’t returned to her royal duties. Readers know that the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer in March and is undergoing treatment for it.
And to honour his wife, the Prince turned tartan into a royal fashion statement. Along with receiving special gifts, he also spent time getting information on the Army Air Corps after King’s departure.
Royal Drama Between Brothers
Now that Prince Williams has been appointed the new Colonel, the timing of the ceremony has caught attention. He is also the leader of his sibling’s former regiment. The ceremony took place a few days after Harry returned to the UK for Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary on May 8, 2024.
Reports tell us that none of the senior royal family members attended the celebration. Moreover, during his UK visit, Harry didn’t even see his father or brother.
After the Invictus Games, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle went on a tour of Nigeria. It started on May 10 and ended on May 12, and it was their first international tour since stepping away from royal duties. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited to Nigeria by its Chief of Defense staff.
