Prince William: The Prince Ditches The Service!

King Constantine II of Greece rested peacefully in January last year. Prince William was due to read at the service in St. George’s Chapel. Eventually, Constantine’s eldest son, Pavlos, stepped up for it. As for other royal members, Kate’s off the royal radar until after Easter following her surgery.  Moreover, King Charles III didn’t show up because he was battling cancer.

Nevertheless, the service was loaded with many foreign royals, with the Duke of York taking charge. His other family members include his former wife Sarah, Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindall. Finally, the queen turned up, getting the VIP treatment from the dean of Windsor at the Galilee Porch.

Constantine II was pretty tight with the King as he was his second cousin. The Late Greek King passed last year at 82 after being toppled from the throne in a military coup. Additionally, Prince William is a godfather to one of Pavlos’ kids. Let’s have a quick read about Constantine’s life.

King Constantine Was Quite a Charmer!

Everybody seems to love Prince William and already hail him as the King. Similarly, folks used to admire Constantine in the same light. The late Greek King was quite the catch back in the day! He became King at just 23 in 1964 and was already an Olympic gold medalist in sailing by then.

Unfortunately, The Greek Monarchy got the boot in 1973, sending Constantine into exile in Britain. However, he managed a few short visits back home. The late King returned to Greece in 2004 for the Olympics but couldn’t stay back in his home country until 2013.

Prince William/ Late King Constantine drew his last breath at 82 in January 2023.

He passed in Athens last January after suffering from chronic heart and mobility problems. Well, Prince William couldn’t attend King Constantine’s funeral last year, sending Lady Gabriella on his behalf. It was a sensible decision because Constantine was close to William’s family, and Gabriella’s father was Queen Elizabeth’s cousin.

King Charles also kept up the same royal tradition of sending a stand-in to these solemn occasions. He sent Princess Anne to cover for him at Constantine’s funeral. Meanwhile, keep reading TV Season & Spoilers to stay abreast with Prince William updates and news!
