Michelle Theriot, who made a name for herself as ‘Grandma Mimi’ through OutDaughtered, has had a rough year. A year ago, she was arrested for the first time. The reality show’s fanbase experienced a massive divide over the controversy. Some deemed Mimi to be wrong, while others genuinely believed that humans tend to make mistakes. Nevertheless, it looks like she is all set to make her return after a year-long hiatus. Keep scrolling to know why.
OutDaughtered: Grandma Mimi Is Back On Social Media!
After her arrest, TLC show’s beloved grandma bid adieu to Instagram. She deactivated her profile. Many believe the producers of OutDaughtered were behind this to save themselves from negative publicity. Although Grandma Mimi was never highly active on her account, fans still loved getting an insight into the life that TV didn’t capture. It turns out, after disappearing for almost a year, the reality show cast member finally posted on her Instagram handle. As of now, she has two recent posts. However, it has nothing to do with the controversial matter.
TLC viewers want an explanation regarding her disappearance and want to know her perspective. Theriot is having a fun time with her best friends in one of the latest posts. She uploaded goofy candids with them while showering them with love. The other latest post was Halloween-themed. In it, she was wearing funky glasses while making a silly face. Although Danielle Busby’s mother is back on Instagram, her comments section still remains limited. It may seem like fans must’ve long forgotten about the incident. But she or maybe TLC is taking no risks.
Could her return mean that she will be seen in the show once again? There has been total radio silence about Mimi’s arrest in OutDaughtered. Many fans believe that the prominent cast members, i.e., Adam and Danielle Busby, have also cut ties with her since the incident. Only time will tell how things shape up from here.
OutDaughtered: Why Did Grandma Mimi Go To Prison?
As per reports, Michelle Theriot, aka granny Mimi, drove home a little after midnight in League City, Texas. This happened around October 2020. Apparently, cops pulled her over for this fishy behavior. Her black Ford SUV constantly swerved, and she also straddled the white shoulder line as she drove. Police noticed her car reeked of a strong perfume smell. This is something many offenders do to mask off the alcohol smell. Hence, they arrested her after she failed a bunch of sobriety tests.
However, the OutDaughtered grandma ended up dodging jail time. Instead, she ended up entering a diversion program. First-time offenders are under community supervision for a year for the same. The 56-year-old was supposed to stay sober at all times within the duration of her program. There was a buzz around the internet claiming that she is getting her life back on track since then. Well, her social media does give away that she is in a much happier place mentally. But will she make herself more exposed to the public eye by appearing in OutDaughtered? Only time will tell.
