The Duggar Family first came into the limelight when TLC roped them in for their show, 19 Kids And Counting. It followed the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar with their 19 kids. They depicted their unique lifestyles as they were followers of IBLP. After the family went into a downward spiral since the crimes of Josh Duggar saw the light of day, Amazon Prime released a new trailer for a docu-series, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secret.
It started with a bunch of people, including Jim Bob and Michelle, talking about IBLP and how they wanted this organization to dominate the world. In the trailer, a woman said how TLC created a “PR show” for Christian Minister Bill Gothard’s teachings. She explained how authoritative the teaching is as “kids obey the parents,” “wives obey the husbands,” and then “everyone obeyed Gothard.” Then, another man’s confessional revealed how the minister turned every father into a “cult leader” and every home into an “island.”
The trailer also featured a woman revealing more toxicity to the IBLP. She said the kids were taught “slut shaming” instead of “math” in their homeschooling system. Another person accused the institution of raising “little predators.” Fans instantly understood she was referring to Josh Duggar, the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle. He faced numerous accusations from his siblings for molesting them, and the court also found him guilty of possessing and receiving child porn. He is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence.
Jill & Amy Duggar Feature In The Docu-Series! Ready To Speak Their Truth & Expose The Family
When Josh Duggar found himself in controversy, many of his sisters began speaking against him for molesting them. It was a disturbing incident that came into the limelight and sent a chill down everyone’s spine. Well, Jill Dillard (previously Duggar) was one of them. She and her husband, Derek, are all set to feature in the docu-series about the family. The trailer featured Jill shedding some tears as she recalled her traumatic past. She said if there is a story that is going to be told, then she would rather be the one telling it. The ex-Counting On star recalled being a part of IBLP for as long as she could remember.
A shot also featured Amy (Duggar) King. A cousin of the infamous family. She has also spoken up about her experiences when she was around the famous TV family. Viewers will get to see her speaking up more about her experiences too. At last, a lady concluded the trailer by saying that the “shiny happy” image of the family was “the sugar,” and the viewers were getting “high” on it without realizing that they were “deceiving” everyone.
