Doctor Younan Nowzaradan, popularly known as Dr Now, is a familiar face on My 600 Lb Life. The TLC show follows obese patients weighing over 600 pounds as they take part in a year-long fitness regime, aimed at helping them lose weight. The show offers psychological, emotional and bariatric surgery to the patients, all free of cost. However, no additional monetary support is provided.

Dr Now is well known for advocating awareness of the adverse effects of obesity and the challenges it poses. However, there is someone who takes the opposite approach, promoting obesity instead. So, who is this person? Has Dr Now finally met his match? Find out here.

My 600 Lb Life: Is Luis Delgado Dr. Now’s Biggest Challenge?

Doctor Now is a regular face on My 600 Lb Life, where he specializes in helping severely obese patients. He is renowned for his expertise in performing bariatric surgeries to aid in weight loss when necessary. Beyond surgery, the reality TV doctor also provides psychological and emotional support to his patients, closely monitoring their process. At 79 years old, Dr Now has appeared in 145 episodes of the show, achieving numerous successful outcomes.

The TLC show’s Mexican counterpart, Kilos Mortales, follows the same premise and recently made headlines after a 36st shopowner, Luis Delgado, refused to participate in the show. What was even more shocking is that the Mexican man wanted to continue promoting obesity and claimed that the show goes against the ethos of his plus-sized clothing brand, Big&Fashion. He admitted to prioritizing his brand over the show to continue to “eat the same way.” He also expressed not liking the concept of the Mexican show.

Delgado’s stance stands in stark contrast to Dr Now’s principles of health and weight management. Although Dr Now and Delgado have not interacted directly as they are filmed in different productions, the renowned weight loss surgeon would likely find such a situation saddening.

My 600 Lb Life: Is Dr Now Retiring Soon?

Fans are speculating that Dr Now might retire after My 600 Lb Life season 12. It is unclear if the Dr Now and TLC have renewed their contract. Moreover, the surgeon is appearing on a new show called Quater Ton Teen from a different network, indicating that this might be his last season with TLC. Fans believe that the 79-year-old doctor deserves a rest after dedicating so many years to surgery.

A clip of his interview at the American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery went viral among fans who noticed Dr Now’s slower movements because of his old age. Fans sympathized that it might be time for Dr Now to retire from the medical field. Stay tuned for further updates about My 600 Lb Life, on TV Season & Spoilers.
