Coronation Street Former Announces Her New ‘Antagonist’ Role
Kym Marsh, known for portraying Michelle Connor in Coronation Street, is off to a new project. Fans must remember her as the beloved barmaid and businesswoman who left the soap in 2019. Now, in her new project, instead of Weatherfield, Kym is hitting the stage as Cruella De Vil in the UK tour of 101 Dalmatians The Musical.
The tour will be staged in multiple cities in the UK starting June 2024. Let us tell you that the stage show is adapted from a book and a Disney movie. This musical follows Cruella’s wicked scheme to snatch up all the adorable Dalmatian puppies for her extravagant fur coat. The Coronation Street actress spilled the beans about her awesome new role as a villain.
She’s super pumped about it, but there’s just one thing she’s dreading… She LOVES dogs. However, her character certainly doesn’t. However, her friends think it’s no biggie for her. Coronation Street seasoned actress shared, “All my other friends are like, “Yeah, but it’s not a far stretch for you [to play a villain] though, is it?”
Kym Marsh Is No Stranger To Playing Villainous Role
Additionally, the Coronation Street star is quite experienced in playing villains. Remember her as the bunny boiler Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction? Well, this time, she’s acting alongside puppets. Kym can’t contain her excitement as she’s eager to see how the magic of puppetry brings the characters Pongo and Perdi to life.
Speaking about her character, the former Coronation Street cast stated, “She’s brilliant. It’s such an iconic role. If you’re going to play a character on stage, you want to play Cruella De Vil.” Additionally, Kym has had quite an emotionally tough year after her dad passed away back in January.
