Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received a lot of flak ever since their megxit. Time and again, speculations have risen about them stepping back into the Royal duties in the UK, but nothing concrete ever came of it. Now, once again, the rumor mill is churning about the possibility of the Sussexes returning to the UK to resume their formerly left behind Royal duties. But is that really even possible?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Decision A Selfish Move?
The latest news reports state the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are considering splitting their time between UK and their life in America. But is it truly in favor of their Royal duties, or just an attempt to boost their brand Sussex? While many believe that any attempt to return on their part will be met with Royal Frost, Tom Quinn feels otherwise. The Royal author is of the opinion that after Queen Elizabeth’s passing, King Charles may opt for a softer approach with Harry and Meghan Markle.
The Royal expert believes that Meghan Markle has already started discussions with Prince Harry for a possible return. However, it will not be a full-fledged move back to the UK. The Sussexes intend to split their time between the Kingdom and the States. Moreover, the expert feels that this decision may have come hot on the heels of Meghan’s fear over their brand losing its popularity.
In a conversation with The Mirror, Quinn stated that “Meghan and Harry had always hoped that when Queen Elizabeth passed away, Charles would take a less strict view of what it means to be a working Royal.” Furthermore, he added that perhaps Meghan Markle and Harry are hoping to be in UK for six months every year as working Royals. Meanwhile, spending the remaining six promoting their brand, which Quinn believes is becoming less and less relevant “without the working Royal angle.”
Will The King Accept Them Back?
Quinn believes that people in America like Harry more as a Royal. But without that being his identity he is becoming irrelevant to them. And same with Meghan Markle, and she does not like that. However, he added that, despite that Meghan’s priority will never be to settle down in the UK. “Although I’m sure Harry would enjoy spending more time in his homeland. And reconnecting with his old friends, The Royal Author added.
But there are many complexities with these decisions. For starters, Meghan Markle and Harry’s wish to retain their titles while rejecting the responsibilities don’t go down well with the King. Which in turn makes the possibility of a reconciliation rather distant. Meanwhile, public opinion about Meghan is at an all time low in the UK. Prince William’s stance about Harry and Meghan are not believed to be any better either.
Keeping all of this in mind, it really is very questionable whether or not Harry and Meghan’s decision to be half working Royals will be accepted. What do you think?
