Mama June: What’s Honey Boo Boo Up To Now?
Alana Thompson and her family have stayed active on television after the cancelation of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” in 2014. They made a comeback with a new WEtv initially titled, “Mama June: From Not To Hot”. Over the years, the title of the show was changed to match the family’s dynamics and struggles.
Finally, Alana’s sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Effird, became Alana’s legal guardian. This happened to strain their relationship with June even more. In March 2024, an episode of “Mama June: Family Crisis” featured Alana and Lauryn confronting June. The sisters also accused her of spending all of Alana’s reality TV earnings. Alana, 19, has now completed her high school studies and got admission at Regis University in Colorado.

In a teaser shared by UsWeekly for the November episode, a woman described Alana Thompson. She called her funny, entertaining, and bold, noting how her sudden popularity on “Toddlers and Tiaras” impacted pageantry. Due to Honey Boo Boo, pageantry was taken in a whole new direction.
Former TLC executive Jack Tarantino has also shedded light on why viewers connected with Alana and her family. He thinks that Alana’s genuine bond with Pumpkin and Mama June appealed to them as it was completely unfiltered. Similarly, Kayla Sims on appearing with her daughter, EverRose Sims, spoke about her experience getting to know Alan on the show.
Kayla shared, “Bless her heart. She is for real.” For her, the family had really never put on an act as they raised Alana to be restpectful. In fact, “Mama June: Family Crisis” in Season 6, showed highs and lows of Alana’s family. This has also included the passing of June’s eldest daughter, Anna Cardwell.
