Jay Manuel and Pamela Chavez had heartbreak after the latter’s family estranged her. Her parents didn’t appreciate her relationship with him. She moved in with him in his parents’ basement apartment to continue their love life after a long-distance relationship. This made her relocate to a different state, making her distance from her mom and dad more prominent.
Pamela and Jay are going strong despite the kind of behavior they received from her American-Mexican family. “I think it’s bittersweet, but I know I’m not the only one, she said to the cameras. While Jay was the first to seek therapy to deal with fragile bone disease, Pamela admitted that she was frightened of therapy sessions. However, therapy is what brought them closer together. Due to his insistence, she improved her mental health with time. She even named him her “golden retriever.”
Jay, in return, explained to the outlet that Pamela helped him gain his confidence. Without her support, he couldn’t have navigated autism in the past. His bride-to-be motivated him to visit the doctor for the diagnosis since he always felt that something was wrong with him. Next, they opened up about their difficulty reaching the cabinets.
Both Jay and Pamela use grabbers to pick things up from a distance to make life a bit easier. As they have learned to live with physical challenges, they have adapted to face those obstacles.
