Emmerdale Set To Get Hit With A Big Change

We all know Iain MacLeod as the long-time Coronation Street producer, but now he is all set to oversee Emmerdale, too. He has been promoted to Executive Producer for Continuing Drama at ITV. He will now supervise the creative teams for both of the soaps. Iain expressed, “I am beyond delighted to be stewarding two shows that I – along with the whole nation – absolutely love.”

He highlighted that Emmerdale and Coronation Street hold a significant role in the lives of ITV viewers. He shared that it’s his privilege to work with such talented teams on both soaps. The former producer of Emmerdale and Hollyoaks said, “I have been honing my skills in producer roles for the past decade, and I am brimming with ideas for what the next chapter on each show will look like – I can’t wait to get started!”

Additionally, this marks the end of the era for both soaps. MacLeod has produced some of the best storylines in Coronation Street. He even won numerous awards, including a BAFTA for Best Soap and Continuing Drama in 2022. Along with two Best Serial Drama Awards at the National Television Awards in 2019 and 2020.

The Managing Director of Continuing Drama and Head of ITV in the North, John Whiston, expressed his delight upon Iain taking up “one of the toughest, but most exciting, jobs in the TV world.” He mentioned the difficulties of the job by highlighting that the soaps involve six hours of primetime ITV output 52 weeks of the year that’s over three feature films’ worth).
