General Hospital viewers were a little confused when they saw a new face walking around Port Charles, claiming to be Prince Nikolas Cassadine. However, upon closer inspection, many realized the face was not so unfamiliar after all. Of course, it wasn’t actor Marcus Coloma, but it was actor Adam Huss! Ardent viewers of the ABC soap remembered him as the actor who embodied Nikolas in an episode back in September 2021. And now he is back to portray the dark prince again, temporarily replacing Marcus.
These temporary fill-ins are becoming quite a theme on General Hospital off late. The character of Nikolas Cassadine itself has been recast more times than one can keep track of! When Nik was first introduced on-screen in 1996, it was portrayed by Tyler Christopher. However, in 1999, actor Colton Scott took over the role and appeared as Nik till 2003. Post 2003 and all the way till 2016, actor Tyler Christopher again played Nikolas Cassadine.
Later in 2016, when Tyler Christopher parted ways with General Hospital, actor Nick Stabile briefly stepped into his shoes. However, the stint was short-lived, as he came in just to ease Nikolas out of the ongoing storylines of the ABC soap. The character then existed off-screen for nearly three years. In 2019 Nikolas Cassadine was brought back on screen and was recast with actor, Marcus Coloma. He has been playing the character to date.
General Hospital Star’s Worst Nightmare Comes True
Interestingly though, Marcus had opened up with his co-star, Maurice Benard, about his fears of being replaced on General Hospital. Certainly, this temporary recast might be a little uncomfortable for him. And while, we don’t know the reason for said recast, we hope it remains temporary. Nikolas Cassadine is in the middle of an extremely important and intriguing storyline right now. With Esme claiming to be pregnant with his child, Ava moving back home and his run-ins with ex-flame, Liz. There really is too much going on for the Cassadine Prince!
Having said that, we have to admit actor Adam Huss is really talented and knows his craft well. Apart from his stint as Nikolas on General Hospital, he has been part of other popular projects. For example, Days of Our Lives, The Bold and The Beautiful, Passions, and NCIS: Los Angeles top the list on his resume. We hope to see him in a more substantial role on General Hospital some day. Meanwhile stay tuned to your favorite ABC soap to find out what happens next to Nik!
