General Hospital Spoilers suggest that a shocking exit is happening on the soap opera. As per the latest scoop, Sydney Mikayla, who plays the role of Trina Robinson on the ABC soap, is all set to exit GH. The actress said in an interview that she needs to focus on her college for now and hence would exit.
Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Sydney decided to leave GH to focus on her academics. She is currently pursuing her graduation from UCLA. Frank Valentini, the soap’s executive producer, told SOD, “Sydney asked to leave to focus on college. We love her and are sad to see her go, but of course, support her decision and wish her the best”. Mikayla’s last episode will be aired on March 17, 2022.
Furthermore, Sydney said in an interview, “I have loved working on GENERAL HOSPITAL. But I feel like this is the right time to dive in and enjoy my college experience to the fullest. The cast has become family and bringing the character of Trina to life has been one of the best experiences of my career thus far.”
She thanked Frank and the entire team for believing in her and giving her this wonderful opportunity. The actress says that she will miss working with everyone every day. But she is excited to see what is to come for the show. It seems like it’s time for her to set her priorities straight and get where she actually wants to.
GH fans love Spencer and Trina’s teenage love, so General Hospital wouldn’t want to let go of that pairing. Moreover, Trina is one of the most popular teenagers in Port Charles, so it is important to keep her around. Additionally, General Hospital spoilers suggest that Trina’s paternity drama is coming up too. So, the soap opera obviously needs a new Trina for the storyline. Owing to all of this, GH is recasting Trina Robinson.
Soap Opera Digest reports Tabayana Ali is all set to take over the role from Sydney and will debut on the show as Trina later this month. When asked about Tabayana, Frank said, “We’re excited to welcome Tabyana Ali and see what she’ll do with the role of Trina”. It is finalized that Tabyana Ali will take over the role, but her first airdate has not been revealed. Ali has previously had small parts on the television shows New Girl, Shimmer and Shine, The Big Show Show, and Horror Noire.
GH fans will miss Sydney for sure, but Tabayana will also receive a warm welcome from the viewers of General Hospital. TV Season & Spoilers wish Sydney all the very best for her future endeavors.
