In December 2022, we reported the heartbreaking news of General Hospital legend, Sonya Eddy’s demise. The vibrant actress portrayed the role of head nurse Epiphany for the better part of the soap’s run till date. Later, in January 2023, we brought to you the news that General Hospital will be airing a special episode to honor the phenomenal Sonya Eddy, as Nurse Epiphany. Interestingly, the special episode is scheduled to go on air right around the time of GH’s 60th Anniversary celebrations and the iconic Nurses Ball.
Earlier today, another big update regarding the special General Hospital episode surfaced. Long-time viewers might remember actor Drew Cheetwood. He portrayed the recurring character of Milo Giambetti between 2016-2020. The actor took to his Facebook account to announce that he has filmed a few scenes for Sonya’s special episode. Drew reminisced that 20 years ago, he shot for the first time for General Hospital. Furthermore, the actor shared that he was about 20 years old back then, and now he is around 40 while he shoots again for the legendary ABC soap.
Drew Cheetwood expressed his gratitude for the opportunity of being a part of General Hospital. He shared that the ABC soap gave him a chance to perform alongside his real-life brother, Derk Cheetwood (Max). Interestingly, Drew met his wife, Jenna, for the first time on the sets of General Hospital. The couple is happily married and have three beautiful children. However, the actor admitted that it was hard for him to be back on the GH sets. He fondly remembered Sonya as someone who instantly lit up the world with her incredible light.
The General Hospital actor reflected that they would all greatly miss her. He enthused that he feels honored to “pay tribute to that light.” Furthermore, Drew took a moment to remind everyone through his post how fragile life is. He rightly pointed out that we must hold on to people we love and care about. He urged that we shouldn’t leave reconciliations and amends for tomorrow. Life can change at any moment. So pick up the phone now and fix it with whoever you need to fix it with. Moreover, he insisted that we must learn from Sonya and fill people’s lives with love and happiness.
Drew and Sonya had incredible chemistry when their characters started to date on General Hospital. Milo and Epiphany’s scenes together have created a special place in their fans’ hearts.
