Emmerdale: Was Tom Hitting Belle Just A ‘Freak Incident?’
Emmerdale viewers have always had doubts about Tom’s behavior. Especially when it comes to Belle Dingle, he has been a violent man since he returned. The couple is all set to take vows, and Belle Dingle looks delighted. However, she is so blinded by Tom’s love that she misses all the ‘red signs.’
Tom has been shady since he returned to Emmerdale after completing his studies overseas. He showed his dark side by slamming Belle to the ground after she rejected his proposal. However, Belle chose to hide it from everyone and move ahead with the relationship.
Emmerdale Tom King actor James Chase expressed, “When it happened, he was terrified as he knew if Cain found out, he would probably be dead or have his leg broken.” However, the actor admitted that Tom trusts Belle. He continued, “Tom even thinks that it was a one-time mistake that just sort of happened – a freak incident.”
Meanwhile, the soap star thinks that Tom might be residing some of his disturbing behavioral traits from childhood. From what we can see, he was a troubled kid with issues that he likely did not resolve.
Tom King To Follow His Murderer Father’s Footsteps, Actor Weighs In
At Tom and Belle’s wedding, it is quite obvious that Tom is not okay with the Dingle family’s chaos. The Emmerdale star said, “They are all a bit Dingley, and he is just annoyed that his quiet, special, genuine moments with Belle are constantly disrupted.” He revealed that Tom is very much frustrated as he thinks that things are getting out of his control.
James asserted that Tom feels threatened by the Dingles. He stated, “When you get married to a Dingle in Emmerdale, you are thrust right into the middle of it, and I don’t think he had estimated that.” Additionally, the soap actor disclosed that ‘Insecurity’ is the driving force behind his character’s dominating personality. According to Chase, Tom is so afraid of losing Belle that he believes that controlling her is the only way to keep her.
While being tight-lipped, the Emmerdale star revealed that he knows his character’s future from the very beginning. Labeling his character complex, the actor teased that Tom might follow in his father’s footsteps.
