Emmerdale: Why Robert Left The Dales?
Robert Sudgen, the half-brother of Victoria Sudgen, has not been seen in the village since June 2019. He was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment after being found guilty of murdering Lee Posner, Victoria’s rapist. Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley made his exit with a heavy heart. He was the fourth actor to portray Robert’s character. His character revolved around multiple adult storylines during his time in the show. He even won numerous awards for his Emmerdale character. While leaving, Ryan stated, “I will miss the show massively; it has been a huge part of my life for the last few years.” He added, “I love working here, I love the people that I work with, and it’s going to be very emotional leaving.”
There were no hints about his comeback until the year 2021. It was known that Lee died after getting hit with a shovel by Robert. But there was more to this story- the truth came out after Luke’s (Lee’s brother) confession. He revealed that Lee had already been injured in a fight between the two of them. Fans hoped that the new evidence could bring back Robert but it didn’t turn out that way. When Victoria tried to contact him, he refused to meet any of his loved ones. He declared that he believes he should face his time in prison for his crime. Fans were heartbroken as they wanted Robert-Aaron romance to continue. However, he must return for more than simply Aaron. His character still has a lot to offer to the Dales.
Robert Isn’t Returning To The Dales- But Why?
The legacy character of Emmerdale might not make a return. However, fans believe that his comeback is a must to spice up the things in the village. Since his departure, there has been a lot going on in the Dales, but one thing that’s missing is his entertainment and charm. Mackenzie Boyd surely brought a lot of Robert-like energy to the show but still, he couldn’t fill the void Robert created. Also, Robert’s return could be a great help to Victoria, especially at this time when she is in a tough spot with Jacob and David.
But it seems like he is not going to make his awaited comeback. Aaron has already started dating someone, which closes one door for Robert’s return. When he made a return in 2014, there were some hints, but this time, there are no such hints from the makers or Ryan himself for his comeback to the show. However, recast is always a possibility, but Emmerdale fans are clearly not up for that.
Fans are shattered by the news of him not returning. One of the fans wrote, “I hate Emmerdale for doing this to me again. I will never watch Emmerdale again!!!!!!!” Meanwhile, there are fans still hopeful for his return. A fan predicted, “Aaron moves on, and then bam. Robert comes back.
