In Emmerdale, the once-close relationship between father and daughter, Bob and Cathy Hope, has taken a devastating turn. After Heath Hope’s death, Bob is dealing with anger and sorrow at the same time. He is blaming his daughter Cathy for the accident that took Heath’s life. However, the situation gets intense when Cathy insists it was Angelica who was actually responsible for the crash. Bob is torn between multiple emotions. The Father-Daughter Duo Breaks Apart
A lot of things have changed after the episode of January 4 in Emmerdale. On New Year’s Eve, we saw that Heath, Cathy, and Angelica went for a joyride, which took Hope’s life. After stealing Wendy’s car, Cathy was driving to a New Year party in Hotten. In the later scenes, Wendy and Bob find out that the kids have gotten into an accident. As they arrived, they saw Anglica and Cathy were already out of the car, but Hope was still inside. He was dead due to major injuries.
Evidently, Cathy was on the top of the priority list. But she turned things around by accusing Angelica instead. Brenda did support Cathy, but Nicola highlighted Cathy’s past, which made Bob doubt her daughter. He mentioned, “Cathy has told lie after lie after lie.” He is convinced that Cathy never liked Heath. Additionally, Cathy has a condition called PMDD, causing her insane mood swings. To prove his point, Bob recalled the time in Emmerdale when Cathy broke Heath’s guitar due to her condition.
Emmerdale: Is Cathy Bullying Angelica?
In the later scenes of Emmerdale, when Bob visits the crash site, he is disappointed after finding so many people there. He is annoyed that the site has become a shrine. That’s when Liam made him understand that it’s everyone’s right to express grief. He even shared about the time when his daughter Leanna died. He asked him to be there for Cathy as she needed him the most.
Emmerdale character Bob went directly to Cathy but found something unexpected. He spotted Cathy shouting at Angelica about the accident. “Tell them you’re a murderer, or I swear I’ll…,” she said. This took Bob back to when Cathy talked in the same manner to Heath. He accepted the fact that Cathy was bullying Angelica into lying so that she could save herself. Bob even said that she is up to her old tricks. He told her, “It’s what you do, and you can’t manipulate her way out of it.” Cathy was terrified by her father’s behavior.
