The couple released a joint statement on their respective profiles. A few weeks ago, Matthew unfollowed wife Charley, fuelling the speculation that they were breaking up. However, the couple have confirmed the news, but fans are eager to know the reasons behind their split. Well, this isn’t the first time the pair has confirmed their breakup. Emmerdale: Despite Breakup, Matthew And Charley Decide To Remain Friends
Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Charley Webb decided to part ways after five years of marriage and three children. The couple revealed this through their Instagram stories. They released a joint statement that said, “It is with love and respect that Matthew and I have decided to separate. We remain friends, and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake, we would appreciate privacy at this time.” The message in Matthew’s story was the same, just from his perspective.
Matthew and Charley met 17 years ago on the set of Emmerdale. After dating in 2007, they became engaged in 2009. However, in 2013, they shocked fans by ending their relationship. But the pair reconnected in 2015 before David Metcalfe assured followers their breakup “was never a permanent split.” Later, in 2018, they got married in a surprise wedding.
Again this year, the break-up rumors were in the air after Charley was photographed without her wedding ring. Matthew gave weight to the rumours by unfollowing his wife on Instagram earlier this month. A source declared, “Charley and Matthew met in different stages of life. Three kids and new occupations have changed everything, and they may no longer be a unit.”
Charley was a part of Emmerdale from 2002 until she left in 2021. While Matthew joined as David Metcalfe in 2006 and is leaving this year.
