Emmerdale: Eric Is Struggling To Find David’s Replacement

In the December 1, 2023 episode, Eric Pollard is looking for someone to care after the shop now that David Metcalfe has departed. After an emotional week, David exited the Dales to start a new life in London. While everyone wonders why he left, Eric is worried about the shop’s future. Later, Pollard decides to ask Tracy (David’s ex-wife) to help him. He requests her to work half shifts. He is certain that she’ll catch up soon as she used to work there earlier. Tracy agrees to help him out, but it may lead to her discovering the truth about David’s departure.

The last week of David in Emmerdale was full of emotions. He discovered that his son Jacob Gallagher and ex Victoria Barton were having an affair behind his back. In a confrontation with Jacob, both men ended up in tears, which was followed by David telling Jacob not to call him “dad” anymore. In the later scenes, David accidentally finds out about his father Eric’s Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. Soon later, he decides to leave for London to see his daughter Amba, who needs him.

The David Metcalfe character Matthew Wolfenden announced his exit earlier this year. According to reports, he wanted to pursue other projects. Matthew said, “I’m so nervous about leaving, almost two decades.” He called it the right time to leave and revealed that the doors were still open for him because his character wasn’t being killed just yet. He added, “I’ve been promised. I’m allowed to tell you that. So, who knows, I might be back; we will see.” For more such Emmerdale updates, stay tuned to the TV Season & Spoilers!
