After a 13-year hiatus from the small screen, Emmerdale favorite Gemma Oaten (Rachel Breckle) is making a return once again. This time, the actress will be gracing the screen of Doctors. The ITV soap star is no stranger to medical drama, as she made her debut on the show itself as Sam Doyle. However, now Gemma will play the role of Dani. The actress even took to social media to share her ‘super exciting’ comeback. We often see that soap stars get emotionally attached to the screen they began their career with. In some way or another, they come back to their building block. The same has happened with Emmerdale former Gemma Oaten. The actress is making a return to the TV screen after 13 long years. She will enter as Dani on Doctors, the show she debuted on as Sam Doyle previously.

The actress became a household name playing Rachel Breckle on Emmerdale. She resided in Dales for four years, from 2011 to 2015, until the show wrote off her character. Then, she joined Corrie as Tyrone Hobbs’s affair, Isla Haywood, for a brief period. Recently, the Emmerdale actress shared the news on her Instagram, “Absolutely buzzing to be asked back to the show that gave me my 1st ever TV role within 2 months of graduating from Drama school, some THIRTEEN YEARS AGO!”

The soap star even penned about her journey to fitness in 2009, shortly after completing treatment for her eating disorder, to better suit her role in Doctors. She said, “I’d already almost lost my life 5 times & I was finally grabbing my time. So to then get the role of Sam Doyle in #Doctors it was a dream come true.”

Meanwhile, after 23 years on air, the BBC has confirmed that the show would shortly be ending. While talking about the same, the Emmerdale star said that the Doctors had given a chance and acted as the training ground for so many new actors like her.
