The comment section saw mixed reactions upon the comeback of these characters. In addition, both the actors have shared their views on the matter. Could they be on their way back? Keep reading to find out.
The Actors Reflect On Return , Zainab And Masood On Their Way Back?
The actors have spoken up about their comebacks on EastEnders. Nina told OK! magazine, “Part of me needed to leave, and I was devastated.” She continued that playing Zainab for an extended time became monotonous and limited her opportunities. Wadia found herself “climbing the walls with just playing Zainab.” However, the actor confirmed her readiness to join the soap. She said, “They were kind to me on the show in that they didn’t kill her off, and I’m sure at one point I will return.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with PA News Agency last year, Nitin showed love for Masood’s character. When asked if he would return, the actor replied, “You never say no.” Nitin went on applauding and said he still loved the character and found the place to be extraordinary. He added, “It’s an incredible machine that has survived coming on to 40 years nearly.” Ganatra concluded his statement by saying, “Would I go back? Of course, I would go back.”
Since both the actors are clearly ready to comeback to EastEnders, it has the fans of the show talking about wheather or not these characters should return. The social media users shared their different views. One asked, “What’s their reason for being here? Who are they connected to in the Square currently?” Another chipped in that Tamwar and Shabnam might bring the two back to Square. The third user showed their enthusiasm. They said, “They were my favourite. The Argee Bhajee was an iconic place. I hope they reopen it lol.” On the contrary, two users showed disinterest, saying, “Nah. The ship’s sailed.”
Tale of Zainab and Masood on EastEnders
Zainab Khan and Masood Ahmed left Albert Square in 2013 and 2019, respectively. Their relationship was a long haul of jaw-dropping twists. Zainab engaged in an affair with Masood while still being married to Yusef Khan. Yusef’s family tried to set Zainab on fire, but Masood rescued her.
After divorcing Yusef, Zainab married Masood and moved to the UK on EastEnders. The couple married and had four children: Syed, Shabnam, Masood, and Kamil. The Masoods tried multiple business ventures in Walford but to no avail. Their troublesome son Syed didn’t let the single one flourish as he continued stealing money from the business.
Things went South when Yusef entered Walford as GP and wanted to win Zainab back. He paid off Zainab’s debt, and the two started getting close. The marriage turned bitter for Masood and Zainab, and he divorced her by saying the triple talaq. Zainab married Yusef and dug her own grave. He assaulted her and demanded that she give Kamil back to Masood. However, Zainab refused, prompting Yusef to abduct Kamil. Masood came to the rescue, and the two reconciled for some time.
As they were about to marry, an incident triggered Masood. He called off the marriage, and Zainab left for Pakistan along with Kamil. Since then, Zainab never set foot in Walford, while Masood saw more years in the town. He eventually gave his business to nieces Iqra and Habiba Ahmed and left Walford for good.
The showrunners haven’t revealed any interest in getting the actors, but we know better than to say never. But who knows a new storyline might be brewing up for them!
