MacIntosh’s passing was announced by his management company, Just Right Management, on X/Twitter. They wrote, “With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh.” Moreover, they expressed gratitude for the support and announced plans for a private cremation and later a memorial.

Ewen took the fans by surprise when he popped up into Walford out of the blue. He shared a scene with Ian Beale, which cracked up EastEnders viewers. In the scene, Ian orders a bench for Dennis Rickman’s memorial but becomes frustrated as it arrives earlier than expected.

Subsequently, he confronts the delivery man, played by MacIntosh, leading to a funny encounter. Why? Because Ewen’s character thinks the bench is for Ian, which is pretty hilarious since Beale is very much alive. Afterward, Kathy Beale delivers a speech, tugging at the heartstrings of the attendees.

The emotional speech reveals Ian’s good intentions, but not everyone is pleased. Especially Dotty Cotton and Vinny Panesar, given they knew the stalwart’s involvement in Dennis’ death. Nevertheless, EastEnders fans were super pumped to see ‘Big Keith’ back on screen! They took to X/Twitter to express their joy. One fan wrote that Ewen’s cameo literally made their day.
